Maybe winning quad 1 games is hard?
Being okay with being consistently mediocre should be harder.

Not sure why people are saying we played great… we hit shots (thank goodness) but our offense stagnated and literally every time we got an ounce of momentum we put up a brain dead shot. We did not play great. But this team has a LOT more fight than last years team. That will win us a game in march or 2

I will also say one thing, despite the fact that the Huskers were better than us today, they did get some amazing calls on the road that I have never seen the Illini get!! The technical foul on Z, the phantom foul on Tomi down the stretch. Don't get me wrong, I am not making any excuses, but just saying we never get those calls on the road in the Big Ten, period!

We let another player torch us for 30 and started off slow. I'm sick of this. We let another team get offensive rebounds down the stretch when it really mattered. I'm sick of it. We missed free throws that cost us the game. I'm sick of it. Honestly, I'm annoyed Ben and Tomi made those threes at the end. Both were bad possessions and we made it closer but this game should've been lost by 7-10 points. Nebraska beating us at home is unacceptable and if we don't win our next games up until the Purdue game in West Lafayette, I might have to start questioning whether or not Brad is really the guy to take us to the top. These losses where we get outplayed against inferior competition are becoming historically alarming. The lack of defense entirely this season is alarming.

Illini fans are always disappointed. Illinois are what they are. INCONSISTENT! They are a terrible defensive team but never play zone when they have the size and length. Every year the pundits always say this is a Final Four team, yeah right. This is the team Underwood wanted and to play a tough non-conference schedule you should win games like this but Nebraska played a soft non-conference schedule and first true road game and they score 83 points. PATHETIC. 20-11

I know message boards are gonna message board, but some of the things I’m reading here are crazy. It is early December and game 11. We have a LONG way to go.

Nebraska showed against Creighton and Wisconsin they are not just good but elite. We should never lose at home, but these things happen when you play elite teams. Clearly there is still MAJOR problems with defense. Not sure if it’s scheme or just general communication, but it has to get better. I’m sure Brad will get it fixed before we get to the new year.

Brad at this point in his career is what he is.
He will finish top 5 in the B10 and flame out in the first round.
I predicted SW 16 after first few games and thought maybe we could further after the Tennessee game...After this game, with as many good teams there are in the league, unfortunately I think SW 16 is their ceiling..So disappointing

Underwood has never beaten 3 teams in a row that are in the KENPOM TOP 40. PATHETIC!

Nebraska is not that good. I don't give a F what their record is or what analytics say. They are at best a middle of the pack BIG team. They have a great coach but the players on the floor are not top-level BIG performers. We don't deserve to be anywhere near the rankings next week. They better figure this out quickly. I hope BU is as feed up with this as I am.

Are you serious? Nebraska shot 8 FTs all game. Illinois shot 20

I am just reiterating what everyone else seems to be saying. We are a poor defensive team. Brad really doesn't believe in zone defense and this team screams playing a zone most of the time. By us playing man-to-man the other team can get whatever shot they want.

We did not play great at all. They were terrible to be honest.

Loss like that can't happen again. Better learn from it.
Nebraska shot 46.2% from three and we still stayed in it. Am I thrilled by our performance? Of course not. But we did not have a bad game. 95% of the time you win with this performance.

Why are we so worried about Sam hoiberg getting a shot off. That's just poor defensively planning. We're rarely within the shooting arc while making closeouts. We just seem soft. Teams know we're soft bc they have way too much confidence while initiating their offense.

Genuinely don't think our defense is as mediocre-to-bad as it is if Chester was still here.

The decision to play that weird match up zone for a 5 min stretch was dumb. They scored easy points on almost every possession. As soon as we went back to man we got stops.

I look at that defense and I think it's athleticism. Guys like Mirk and Tomi are great, but they are SLOW in recovery, which is why when teams swing the ball on us, we're out of position. Playing guys like Tomi and Z on the wing.....not optional.
