BU can be stubborn. He could have Braden Smith and he would sit him! I don't blame petro for leaving. . He sat an NBA 1st rounders pick and for him to not get a chance is a damn joke. Pisses me off.
Isn't that what we've got though? Offense is not the problem, as long as we consistently get 30% three point shooting (which we are). Obviously expecting 46% like them is quite unreasonable....Great post because what we saw yesterday is the type of offense Brad wants. All five guys who can shoot with a couple of bigs that can score and equally (or more) importantly be able to pass out of the post. That's what he envisioned last year and he double downed on it this year.

Because that is not Tyler's offense. His is a mimmik of an nba team, without the required shooters.I grew up playing motion offense. Ball going into the paint and either score or kick out to an open player. I keep thinking of the 15 pass possession against NW in 05. Poetry in motion. The ball went in the paint 3 times and out 3 times before Dee hits the three. We have the players to run a high post motion offense. Moving the defense side to side wears teams down. We need the twin towers to touch the ball every possession and the three guards need to run through the post to confuse and move the defense. I just do not understand why we cannot run this simple scheme
Go Illini! It's insanity. After Wednesday, some of the same people who sit here today(and yesterday)with the flaming pitchforks going after everyone associated with the program.....had us headed to Indy after beating Ohio State. If we beat Missouri handily, we'll be headed back to Indy.
Overall we're a better offense than Nebby (IL the #4 rated offense on KenPom). The problem was slowing down their three point shooters. Illinois won the free throw battle, the rebounding battle, as well as points in the paint.Isn't that what we've got though? Offense is not the problem, as long as we consistently get 30% three point shooting (which we are). Obviously expecting 46% like them is quite unreasonable....
Sean Miller?Chris Beard lol
A reasonable analysis, excerpt based on results over the years one would have to judge the last point as being well above average. I get that you’re down on him and feel he doesn’t do well on court, but overall he wins games. He’s a great recruiter.
A very good evaluator of talent
Below average at roster construction and X’s and O’s.
IMHO
Absolutely. This is exactly what he's running and from a scoring standpoint, I'm not seeing too much of an issue. My concern is that by building his roster around this offense, he left himself significantly short on defense.Isn't that what we've got though? They ran very good set plays off baseline out of bounds to get Andrej going. Why don't I ever see us run a set play? I am no student of the game, and I keep hearing Tyler is a great offensive coach, but when I turn the game on I see 4 or even 5 guys outside the 3 pt line. I see very lazy movement and then someone either drives or shoots a 3. I get tired of seeing opponents draw up a play off of a timeout or at the end of halves and get a clean look. I can't even remember the last time we had a play drawn up that worked. I think there was one game last year maybe the Oregon game where it was like holy crap who is this team, they're actually running an offense. Then it went right back to 3s and drives.
This was a hilarious comment to read and I have time so I actually looked at times we have “upset” a team. This is not including signature wins this is a true upset (we were ranked lower or unranked at the time of the game)

So basically in 9 years all we have, as best of his wins (with many studs that are playing in the NBA), is a bunch of wins against other BT teams that were and/or ended up within few positions of us rankings wise, and which did not do much in the tournament. Riiiight, you definitely proved me wrong!! (maybe look up his records against marquee programs, and/or teams that were ranked top-5 or top-10 during that time).
As I said, the closest thing to a "signature" win we had with BU at the helm is the Iowa State game, and you pretty much proved my point.

You literally just changed the criteria of what you were asking. You asked for upsets, I gave you upsets. Now you want marquee or “signature” wins? Okay how about this:So basically in 9 years all we have, as best of his wins (with many studs that are playing in the NBA), is a bunch of wins against other BT teams that were and/or ended up within few positions of us rankings wise, and which did not do much in the tournament. If you’re going to argue from this standpoint, at least argue in good faith. Stop moving the goalposts.

The crazy part is that there's potentially so many others as well:You literally just changed the criteria of what you were asking. You asked for upsets, I gave you upsets. Now you want marquee or “signature” wins? Okay how about this:

So many good memories in these two posts. Weird that so many people are this eager to throw them awayThe crazy part is that there's potentially so many others as well:
- the win over MSU where Ayo makes back to back 3s.
- Ayo comes back and we knock off a top 10 PSU team on the road
- Kofi blocks Garza at the buzzer right before the pandemic
- both the wins over Iowa in 2021
- the win @OSU, Ayo's first game back after the broken nose
- the win over Iowa to clinch the B10 title
There's so many "signature wins" that aren't signature wins simply due to the sheer amount.
