It was not hard to see. They were fired up...we were...on a break?
I like Hoiberg a lot and his kids play so hard for him. They deserve credit for checking off all the boxes to win on the road....but they aren't that scary outside of Skinny P. And if someone would have just "introduced" him to a little B1G guarding in the first half, we'd probably be talking about a 10 point win. Right where the mo..errr..Vegas had it.

Overall we're a better offense than Nebby (IL the #4 rated offense on KenPom). The problem was slowing down their three point shooters. Illinois won the free throw battle, the rebounding battle, as well as points in the paint.

A reasonable analysis, excerpt based on results over the years one would have to judge the last point as being well above average. I get that you’re down on him and feel he doesn’t do well on court, but overall he wins games.
Absolutely. This is exactly what he's running and from a scoring standpoint, I'm not seeing too much of an issue. My concern is that by building his roster around this offense, he left himself significantly short on defense.
They ran very good set plays off baseline out of bounds to get Andrej going.
So basically in 9 years all we have, as best of his wins (with many studs that are playing in the NBA), is a bunch of wins against other BT teams that were and/or ended up within few positions of us rankings wise, and which did not do much in the tournament. Riiiight, you definitely proved me wrong!! (maybe look up his records against marquee programs, and/or teams that were ranked top-5 or top-10 during that time).
As I said, the closest thing to a "signature" win we had with BU at the helm is the Iowa State game, and you pretty much proved my point.
He hasn’t the financial resources compared to the power teams of the conference until this offseason. They invested this offseason which is why Sandifort signed. The average team budget is around 8 million. Nebraska is spending more. Could they be the IU of the B1G? Hoiberg is one of the best in game/recruiting coaches in the conference. He can flat out coach. This season though is senior led so he will have to reload next year. But the sky is the limit on their chances of being a Top 4 seed in the Tourney.

- 19/20 Top 5 Michigan at home
- 20/21 Top 10 Duke away
- 20/21 #2 Michigan away
- 20/21 Big 10 Championship game
- 22/23 Top 10 UCLA neutral
- 22/23 #2 Texas neutral
- 23/24 Big 10 Championship game
- 23/24 Iowa State tournament
- 24/25 Top 10 Oregon away

My question that most on here may disregard is that are we sure Crocker's an upgrade from Hamer? Last year we were very limited personnel wise - we still are this year, but not quite as much, especially on the perimeter. Keaton's a better defender than KJ, and Stoj is a better defender than Will.
Boswell has not been nearly as impactful as he was a year ago. Last year he was menace, because the scheme allowed him to be. There just seems to be a lot of switching, and not enough of him just "man-ing up" his guy.

The crazy part is that there's potentially so many others as well:
- the win over MSU where Ayo makes back to back 3s.
- Ayo comes back and we knock off a top 10 PSU team on the road
- Kofi blocks Garza at the buzzer right before the pandemic
- both the wins over Iowa in 2021
- the win @OSU, Ayo's first game back after the broken nose
- the win over Iowa to clinch the B10 title
There's so many "signature wins" that aren't signature wins simply due to the sheer amount.
