Yeah, I agree with the comments here about the Brown brothers. They are two of my favorite Illini players of all time.

I do think we'll see more fans opting out of bowl game attendance, or even caring about bowl selection. Two things can be true: we understand players opting out of bowl games; and we realize that the sport is a lot less interesting to follow as a result.

DB Brown Shows Off Versatility

Sydney Brown was a prospect coming in to the week I didn’t know much about, but after an excellent week of practice, he could make an immediate impact at the next level. Brown can play in the box, cover slot players in the short area, and make tackles against the run. Some teams are utilizing three safeties in their nickel packages, and I think those teams will have their eyes on Brown.

1st round & second round guys don’t usually go to any of the senior bowl games .

they usually just go to the combine , but some will skip that .

However, Brown clinched things with his dominant final practice. Not only did he show a closing burst to disrupt the catch point, but he was the best defensive back when it comes to “ball searching” to dislodge and turn catches into incompletions. Brown was the loudest player on the field, too, as he grabbed the reins of the defense and communicated directions from the coaches.

Syd is such an impressive coaching job by Walters and Henry.

Under Lovie he looked every bit like a spiritual LB in a safety's body who would bring toughness, leadership, cool hair, big hits, a handful of targeting calls, be everyone's favorite in college and then never be heard from again because fundamentally he's an undersized LB who can't REALLY cover pro athletes in space. Remember Stanley Green? That seemed like the appropriate comp two years ago.

Our staff got him reading and anticipating so well with such fundamental soundness that all of those attributes play up. Same deal with Spoon in a more obviously NFL-shaped package. Same with Quan, same with that whole room really. Kendall Smith suddenly was a useable player. Matt Bailey was impactful walking straight out of Prom. Unbelievable job those guys did.

And you only need to look as far as Kerby Joseph to see that it's no fluke at the next level. DBU.

One of Syd's interviews where he talked about pre-snap reads and knowing when receivers are typically going to break based on where they are lining up just highlights this point even more. The level of understanding being taught in that room is absolutely outstanding.

Christ, he's ripped. Kudos to Tank for a job well done and Syd for keeping in that kind of shape.

Anyone else want a Tank/Fletch nutrition and workout plan app? I'd pay for that.

I thought Palcho would get an invite.
Im not sure what the criteria is . I would have thought so as well , but there are only so many spots open at the combine

Im pretty sure BB is having his assistant send emails to all the guys he knows in the league to come look at him and a few others at our pro day
If he is as good as we think, he'll get his shot at making a roster somewhere.
