I don’t find anything that says a player can withdraw. Last year there was apparently a 72 hour window to change your mind, but I don’t see anything about that for this year.

I believe they can withdraw anytime up to Jan 15th which is the deadline to declare- lists get sent to NFL teams Jan 19th

The surprise about IW is this isn’t like basketball there really aren’t other options to play professionally if you don’t make an NFL team and he most likely won’t- USFL pays 74K a year for reference. I would think making NIL in college one more year would be very good for him

It's very likely BB advised him to declare and get feedback from teams without hiring an agent .
It's the Best way to get direct honest feedback about perceived weaknesses and his value in the League now and how to maybe help that if he stays in school
I would think his NIL would be at about or very close to our highest on the team if he stays for 2024

If he already has a degree he is in good shape. Isaiah seems like a very intelligent young man. He will be able to get a gig as a coach perhaps or analyst or something. That man will be successful. Of course I would LOVE it if he would come back for some once in a lifetime NIL dollars.

Ill add that I think he can make a 53 man roster.

I know nothing about how Icon and NIL actually works, so I ask: Can Icon create a donation campaign specifically for "Isaiah Williams 2024 NIL" and to which a pledge made is only collected if IW comes back? Would seem like a way to up the leverage for him to come back. I'd donate. Of course, I'm sure Icon would rather have the $$ donated without conditions and for whatever deals they deem best.

NIL is a work in progress and Icon continues to innovate. Essentially, they can (and I believe will) do anything to be successful, within the evolving rules and framework of NIL. I think you have a great idea.

tmk, there is nothing stopping a business from directly hiring a specific athlete to promote their product - see Gatorade and Kaitlyn Clark

not sure how that changes within the collectives

My understanding is if you donate a certain amount you can specify where it goes. Under the amount and it goes into a general fund. I don’t recall what the amount is.

Was reading an article by Matt Miller on ESPN.com about the only players he had with a first round grade and he talked about Johnny Newton being the only defensive tackle in this year's class he had a first round grade on. If you're wanting to see a current NFL player that he compares Johnny Newton to, watch Justin Madubuike, the nose tackle for the Ravens.

Would be something if the bears can trade down to #2 & then another to #3 so those teams can get their qb's & the bears pick MHJr.

Bears get Harbaugh as HC, stick with Fields & build a winner.

I haven't watched many Bears games lately. Is Fields capable or do they need to just draft Caleb Williams?

yes. jk :)

depends on who you ask. he has certainly flashed elite passing and running skills but hasn't been consistent. now, whether or not that is because this is his ceiling (inconsistent) vs lack of talent/consistency around him is the debate.

i would be more than fine with the Bears running it back with Fields for next 2 years (pick up 5th yr option) and stack picks like you lay out. yes, top tier QBs make up for a lot of gaps in the roster but i also think this roster is more than a few pieces away from being consistent competitors let alone take a SB run

I've been on the fence all year but in the end I agree (or whatever QB not named Trubisky that they like). For those who want to pick Harrison, who is going to throw to him? That's not Fields's strength either.

I'm not discounting at all those who say the Bears are usually terrible at QB development, that's why I've been on the fence. But I think if you've got the #1 you go for it.

Pick 1 - QB, picks 2 through end - best available OL. I kid, but not much.

As a 49ers fan, watching Harbaugh get maximum success out of Kaepernick, I think he could do it with a guy like Fields. He's not as tall and strong as Kaepernick, but he has similar tools. Use the draft to build other pieces now.

Fields has never come close to hitting 3k passing yards and Kaepernick did twice.

Kaepenick also looked pretty bad down the stretch.

I'd trade Fields and the #9 pick for hopefully the #2-#4 and a 1st next year, then see if you can get Williams #1 overall and Marvin Harrison Jr with that 2nd pick.

Extremely unlikely, but worth some phone calls
