The moral of this story is that if you don’t have great combine stats, your draft stock is highly uncertain .
Eh, barring the dreaded death sentence of small hands, QB isn't really so much about measurables.

The "operation time" thing was interesting, it's not that he's got a slow release (though it is a low release which compounds his already average height), it's that the whole process of getting from receiver chosen to ball out has too much stuff in it. That seems fixable.

He uses that time well in terms of keeping his eyes downfield and staying alive in the pocket, but holding onto the ball too long is never good and the NFL will punish you there more than college.

To me the #1 positive for Altmyer is how markedly he improved in each season here. Nobody is good enough to play QB in the NFL on draft day, it's all about the rate at which you can learn and improve and grow. Luke has shown a strong ability to do that, it's not just hope that says he could be a much better player in two years than he is right now, whereas someone like Drew Allar has been stuck being the same guy.

No disrespect to Tommy DeVito who is a great guy and is an A++ accurate thrower, but if his pop gun arm sticks in the league and Luke doesn't, that will be a real mystery to me.
