If things don't turn around soon the Bears are going to have to face some sobering realizations. It's looking more and more like a given that drafting Trubisky was a huge mistake. Nagy may not be a very good coach as well. The offensive line has fallen apart, and the offensive pieces that Pace added the last couple of years either aren't worth a damn or just aren't contributing at this time, other than Robinson. The Super Bowl window may have been last season. Ten games left to somehow right this ship.

The defense is a head scratcher too. Dominate at times and barely average at others. I don’t get what is happening there. This team is not going to win many games if the D doesn’t show up big time.

I'm wondering if the Illini might win more games than the Bears this season. Never thought I'd say that.
Home against the Giants might be the only game the Bears will be favored to win the rest of the way. Maybe home against Detroit.
5-11 is a real possibility.
Remember, no first round draft pick.
I'm as much of a Mitch supporter as anyone but even I'm starting to lean more towards him not being potentially the guy. I wouldn't be opposed to them going after someone in the draft or in free agency. Probably too late to get anyone before Tuesday's trade deadline.

Yesterday's game looked like two bad teams both trying to find ways to lose. After the Denver game I thought things just didn't look right with this team and posted that they look like a bad team to me. They look like a pretty bad team right now, which is hard to do with the defense they have. I thought Trubisky played pretty well until the fourth quarter and then had the two turnovers and missed on the wide open throw ( to Gabriel if I remember correctly) and then it's seems like he's back to square one again. Nagy must have been doing it with mirrors last season as his coaching has been awful this year. The play calling at the end of the first half and taking a knee before the final kick were beyond comprehension. I don't know if it's the design of the plays inside the five yard line or what but nothing is open. I don't see them going into Philly next week and winning. I don't know how they turn it around at this point. I can't see adding anybody at the trade deadline. They have limited draft capital to trade with and I don't know who you would trade that's on the roster, unless somebody is dying to get Mike Davis or something.

Fox threw a graphic on the screen showing that Rivers has started his last 216 games for the Chargers. They then compared that to what the Bears have used for their last 216 games, and sweet baby Jesus was it ugly.
I feel a little sorry for Trubisky. The Bears traded up to get him with the second overall pick. He hasn’t lived up to the expectations that brings, and now 32 games into his career, there’s little hope that he can ever live up to those expectations.
Had he been a second or third round pick, people would be generally satisfied with the flashes he’s shown and would still be talking about his potential.
He’s more the Tim Couch/Joey Harrington type bust than the Akili Smith/Ryan Leaf type bust. OK dude who was over-drafted and unable to live up to the hype. Probably has a place in the League. Might have an Alex Smith-style resurgence if put in the right position. Someone will give him another chance.
But there’s no way the Bears can extend him and they MUST bring in a potential starter alternative next year. Probably a free agent since they don’t have the picks to either draft or trade for a starting quality player.
Assuming the Bears completely fall out of the playoff race, bringing Kaepernick in for a four game tryout to end the season wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world.

Also doesn't help that the two quarterbacks taken after him are two of the best in the league right now.
I’ll give Pace some credit. The Watson and Mahomes love is mainly 20/20 hindsight. The CW at the time was that the Bears should hold off on picking a QB in 2017 and wait for the loaded 2018 class.
That 2018 class in its second year is looking pretty darn rough.
That said, it’s all perfectly valid criticism that the Bears didn’t have to trade up to get Trubisky in the first place, would have been just fine if someone else had traded up and sniped Trubisky ahead of them, and probably shouldn’t have mortgaged their future to get Mack when all evidence at the time was that Trubisky wasn’t going to be ready to take the Bears to a Super Bowl.
Also, lost in the (quite legitimate) concern over Trubisky’s regression, is the complete disappearance of Tarik Cohen from the Bears’ offensive game plan. Ditto Trey Burton.

Strongly disagree about Watson love being 20/20 hindsight. And I'm not sure what credit you are giving Pace. Is it that he didn't wait until the next year to draft a QB?
Yes. And if there was any sort of consensus that Watson was going to be what he’s become he wouldn’t have lasted until 12th in the draft.
I'm not talking about consensus or his predicted level of success. Watson was a star in college and a lot of Bears fans wanted him ahead of Trubisky at the time.
