Well it was 7 nothing when I left to go eat with our neighbors.

I'm guessing the defense wore down and the offense eventually couldn't move the ball.

Hopefully better things next year.

This is the most optimistic 2-10 I’ve experienced in ages. Things can only get better, once the QB position is settled. Liking what I saw from our freshmen, so holding onto that for next year.

What an epically bad season.

Yes, lots of valid reasons / excuse for it. But man......I've seen little to suggest that we'll be significantly better next year or the year after.

ILL has a long way to go to catch up and even the lower-tier B10 teams aren't going to quit improving. So the question is whether ILL's improvement will greatly exceed improvements by Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers, etc.

A sad end to a sad season. But, I am somewhat optimistic for our future as I was impressed with our Freshmen and some of the skill players. We obviously have a long, long, long way to go but perhaps things will start to look better next year.

Thanks to all the players who have given their careers to the UofI.

Thanks to all the seniors and any kid transferring. Much appreciated.

I think we will be fine.

First I hope we have healthy players throughout the next season. That by itself should help field a better product next year.

I think we add to our talent. Move that needle some. Perhaps not as much as we would like it to move - that I expect down the road (next year will be year 3 of 6).

Welp the third year should see a leap. 4th year a bowl game 5th top 25 not. I know I'm dreaming.

I enjoyed the first half, second not so much. The Seniors have endured so much in their careers the NCAA needs to add another year to their eligibility. About the game, either we got away from the success of the first quarter or they forced us. The fourth down and two that was unsuccessful seemed to change the momentum.

UCF is 11-0 this year. In 2015, they were 0-12. I’m not making a comparison. Different conference, different players (51 of them were on both UCF teams). But let’s just see what happens. If it’s anything good in 2019 then 2017 will look necessary in hindsight.

I noticed that there was no fans in the seats. It was sad, doesn't help the cause. No energy. If you don't sell them give them away. I wonder what the attendance numbers were?

Any word on Dre Brown's injury? I thought I saw him grabbing at his shoulder, and he eventually walked off, so it wasn't a knee.

ESPN summary says 30,456.

you could have opened the gates and the numbers wouldnt have imporved. QB problem has to be solved. need a grad schooll transfer badly. give those underclassmen a yar to learn an offense. we've spen and entire year running three offenses for three
QB's. that has to stop now. two run/pass option QB's high school kids plus a grad transfer (please!) who also has a run threat so that all three can learn and execute a single offense. lets see if this coordinator can win or if we have to move on with another one. its been miserable to watch but i will stay the course. I think this belongs in the Lovie Smith thread. :)

I think we have offically hit rock bottom

Why does everyone say that THIS season? We had a coach get fired for physical and mental intimidation of athletes. THAT'S when we hit rock bottom.

We've just barely moved since then.

Hey, if there was one bright spot--and there were several--the one that shone intensely was the ch!ckensh!t kickoffs by Northwestern. What a bunch of friggin' cowards. I have NEVER seen anything like that.

I think that they deserve to be roundly ridiculed for it. If any of your Northwestern friends start to rag on you about the game, ask them about it.

A montage of those kicks should make a highlight tape for every college football talk show this week. :D

As a 12 year season ticket holder (which, btw, I hate when people start of posts like that. I'm so, so sorry...), I will say that I think a lot of the attendance issue is the university itself. They have sucked the fun out of attending games. I don't know exactly what it is, but every year the atmosphere gets bleaker and bleaker... and that's even when we rarely pull in 45,000.

Grange Grove is great, but once you enter the stadium, it feels like entering a prison.

What happens to Tito after his ejection today? Can’t do what he did and not be punished, but I’d hate to see him run off. His frustration won today.

I go to one or two games a year. This year's game was Wisconsin. Yes, the weather was awful, but I had the same thoughts about how miserable the game experience was. So much down time on the field when nothing is happening. So much loud music with no purpose. A poor product on the field. I really hope a winning team can fix it all, but i have my doubts.
