👎👎 they should’ve done much better this season
Unfortunately, this is the biggest take away from the season. 5-7 was definitely on the table for a possible outcome, but watching them play, there were just so many errors made that really resulted in 5-7. From odd playcalling to weird in game decisions by all the coaches, it was just a sad and disappointing regression from last season.

Saying we threw away too many good opportunities to win this game today and go bowling would be beating a dead horse. But, that would be selling dead horse flesh short.

The only positive that can come from this loss is if Lunney and Henry are not on the field in the spring. This less than mediocre season belongs to them.
So, after watching the last half of the season, are we still saying lunney is part of the problem, or is it possible that Altmyer isn’t actually the right quarterback for his offense? Or, was it just a “they needed more time to gel“ kind of thing? It was way more exciting watching Illinois football the last six games then it was the first six.

Well this was frustrating but we dealt with a lot of loses, injuries, im extremely frustrated because we lost two games due to turnovers on kicks and they have a ton to clean up. I do feel confident that Coach B is the man for the jobs. Sometimes football players can't drop routine catches on kicks and in basketball the players gotta hit FTs.
If they don't drop those kicks and punts in 2 games we are going to a bowl. O dint think thats on coaches. I don't think anyone is better at catching em than who they had back there. They just can't screw up like that.

Especially Henry.

No wait, especially Lunney.

Thank you Jake Butt for saying everything I was thinking. We are not a well-coached team. Aaron Henry really cost us this game, and has trouble adjusting mid-game. He is not even a MAC coordinator.

Self-inflicted mistakes will be the legacy of the 2023 Illini football team. This was the definition of beating yourself.

Already looking forward to next season. I'm devastated for the players and fans. We deserve better.
