October Exhibition Games

I think I assumed MSU will be locked into a top 20 defense and top 20 offense - whereas we were locked into a top 5 offense, but defense has potential to be down around 30 (again, floor).

Most probably would have taken MSU backcourt over ours and our frontcourt over theirs. While I think that’s still true, one gap seems a lot larger at the moment. Their frontcourt is a mess
I feel like a top 5 offense and 30 defense is a better floor than a 20 offense and 20 defense though.

Are you saying you were kind of splitting hairs originally and now you believe that Illinois' advantages are much better than Michigan St advantage?

Ya I thought both teams were really good - I by no means was picking MSU over Illinois

As to the bolded, that’s also probably splitting hairs. But essentially, thats a slightly less favorable Illini picture than the trade off between us and MSU last year, and we tied in the B1G standings.

This is Scheyer's best team at Duke and I don't think it is close. They are going to be incredibly difficult to beat come March. Rippey is an absolute stud and Boumtje Boumtje might end up being the best big in college basketball as a 17 year old. The kid just turned 17 in May.

Fears would not play much at Illinois because he is a terrible shooter and the illini do not get the calls at home that he gets at msu.

Eh I don’t know about that. The 25 team had the second highest rated kenpom of all time. That’s not the end all or be all but it’s what we use to measure a teams efficiency. We’ll see but I’m not ready to make that declaration before the season has even started. If they win it all then obviously they are his best team.

and it took a unfathomable collapse in the final few minutes for them to lose in the tourney.... although that sounds familiar to last year as well.

Trey Kaufman Renn is now at Kansas. How is he eligible? They said on tv that Painter promised playing time to others and didn't want to break his promise to others. Trey White is still playing. Louisville is playing Kansas on espn u.

Tre White is going to have a good season. These two teams are going at it and Tre looks tough. with 25 right now

fun game to watch. lot of talent on both teams. stokes looking pedestrian in this one. tre White has been Kansas best player in the game. Kansas defense has been bad though...bidunga being on the other team doesn't help. shelstad has been a stud. Louisville has some really tall freshman who looks good (ekize?). hit some threes and is long

Fran Fraschilla was on local KC radio today and they asked him how good KU could be. He said “that will be up to the court to decide.” The host replied “yeah, they do have to go prove it on the basketball court.” To which Fran said “no I mean in THE courts.”

KU will have 3 starters that are on the team due to court injunction.

They have no flaw and have multiple options to flip to depending on the situation.

I have long said their best lineup will include Ripppey and JBB. The only way they lose is if Scheyer mucks it up or there is friction in the locker room that drags down the team because good players will be seeing no time.

By end of year it will be unique matchups for them that stunt them. I honestly think it's a team like Illinois, which has all the positional size and matchup advantages at guard with guys like Vaaks, or a team like UConn that is strong as hell and can punch them in the mouth. Watched some of that UConn game and that team is football tough this year. They have some extremely big bodies on their roster. They were 15+ points better than MSU, but MSU was jackpotting on free throws and Hines didn't play much.

Teams that can beat them are going to have to pace them down as well. You won't beat the in a track meet with all that depth.

Stokes is an interesting player - not what I would call a pretty watch. He's a big brawler, but he plays hard and does share the basketball. Offensively he basically looks to run through his defender. He is the anti-Petersen, who was so elegant when he was on. This guy is a bull in a china shop and there is nothing graceful about his game. He's light years from NBA refined - will be a project to some degree, but able to bully guys at the CBB level.

Louisville looked pretty good - they got a ridiculous game out of their Freshman big. Got to love Kelsey on the sideline in short sleeves with a giant arm band tat. They had solid guard play and shot the ball well.

As good as that team was it was, had an imbalanced roster. They ran a freshman forward as a point forward with no real PG on the roster and a thin bench. I hated Tyrese Proctor, thought he stunk magnificently when it mattered and dragged that team down, was totally redundant.

This team is deep, can run multiple options at you. They can go big, can go small, can run double point, endless ways of operating. Rippey is the first real PG they've had in a long time. JBB is unique.

I had forgotten about Tre. Really good player at Illinois; hope he has a great season.
he was decent at Illinois, solid but up and down. he had a much better year at Kansas.

I will say this and not very nice but I believe it.... if tre White is starting on your team then you probably aren't very good team. he's never really been on a winning team. now he's definitely been a good player but I'm sticking with that
