Took 5 years, but NCAA finally did something from the LaMont Evans investigation.
Sucks for the players that came to the school just now.

I wish these bans were for future years so it would actually hurt the programs recruitingTook 5 years, but NCAA finally did something from the LaMont Evans investigation.

The postseason ban was originally handed down last summer (2020) but OkSt appealed. So any commit since then would have known this was coming and current players could have considered whether to transfer.I wish these bans were for future years so it would actually hurt the programs recruiting
Yeah, I can see it when the bad actor is acting on behalf of the program, such as with recruiting violations. Probably safe to assume some willful ignorance in that case. But when the bad actor is offering no benefit to the program and just lining his own pockets, such as in this case, it really doesn't make a ton of sense.Punishing the entire program for a specific bad actor is like sending Ted Bundy's entire family to jail.
They didn't have a single 2021 recruit according to 247, and only have 1 2022 recruit. I think it probably hurt them a bit.I wish these bans were for future years so it would actually hurt the programs recruiting
It's a head-scratcher, considering the violations were damning and public. I think the effect of all this is to have no punishments ever handed down, assuming the bills in congress that rein in NCAA enforcement pass. It's an awful system by design that's never been about what's right, unless by "right" you mean "money".So, we will see penalties and violations for Louisville, Kansas, LSU, and others in approximately 2034...
Which is why we are starting to see a number of schools wanting to get away from "NCAA" sponsored tournament. The correct answer for the NCAA (which will never happen) is a permanent ban for the person making the infraction. But, it must be swift. So, we will see penalties and violations for Louisville, Kansas, LSU, and others in approximately 2034...
Those kids had nothing to do with Lamont Evans, let them play NCAA!
Agree. What is interesting is the NIT use to be the bigger tournament. I don’t see how you can convince schools to join another tournament. I find it funny CBS ripped the NCAA off because of poor negotiationsWhich is why we are starting to see a number of schools wanting to get away from "NCAA" sponsored tournament. Similar to football.
