I don't think there's anything wrong with making sure there will be something to read up on from the best Illini reporters.
You must be the originator of the original tweet LOL. The question is like "Does a bear sh%t in the woods?" Or maybe for Illinois, Does a pig sh%t at the South Farms?

I should have been clearer and said the guy was responding to one of Werner’s quick tweets from the practice. Given Werner is a reporter and works for a media outlet that covers the Illini, and this is the first real event for a team that fans are hungry for information about, and Werner is there — of course there will be a write up. Might be within the confines of the paid portion of the site, but that isn’t what he asked.

I though it was funny, but maybe you’re right and I’m being too critical. Anyway, hope there was a good turnout with the top recruits in attendance.
No you were fine.

I wouldn't put too much value on what's seen in an open practice, especially with regard to what BU is going to do with personnel and X's/O's during a game.

It was great to get a basketball fix today.

I’ll just “report” on the new guys or guys in new roles since we already know what the old heads are capable of.

Plummer - he’s going to light it up. Very quick too. Looks like hell be a good defender. Quick release coming off screens.

Payne - he’s so athletic! He gets up quick and can throw it down hard! He’ll be an upgrade from Giorgi.

Melendez - super athletic kid, but was lost a lot today. Maybe it was nerves. Underwood let him have it multiple times.

Goode - he did really well. He’s probably played best out of the freshmen with a close second to Podz. Don’t leave him open from the corner. He knocked it down nearly every time.

Podz - kid can shoot! He’s going to be a sniper. He also got my award for best hustler today. He hustled his butt off on defense.

Hutch - the reports about him being the best athlete are true. He about threw it down over one of the bigs and his head was above the rim. Smooth looking shot and played point quite a bit.

Hawkins - looks like he put on some weight but is still skinny. Super versatile as we already know. Looked like a point forward.

Curbelo - we all know what he’s capable of with his passing. He’s special. He shot was looking good too. Didn’t shoot much during the scrimmage though.

BBV - BIG body and gets in and bangs with Kofi and Payne.

side note: JJ Taylor was in the house along with some other kids from MIF.

Great report. Thanks for the update and sounds promising. Really glad to hear about Hutchison!

I’m irrational in thinking we are gonna be better than last year. Right? You can’t get better after losing a player as good as Ayo, right?
Yes, teams sometimes play better after an AA leaves. I do not only think we are better but I know we will. We were not a fluent 3 point shooting team. Teams were not scared of out outside game. They will be this year. We have multiple players who will force opposing teams to spread the court. I would bet that if this years team played Loyola last year, we would smoke them.

Great to see some of the video. We are a veteran team and they look locked in and all business. Great to hear Hutcherson with PG minutes, gives us more depth. We have had deep teams in the past without the impact players at the top. This team has both, a ton of weapons and options.
