Didn't really have a horse in this race but I feel that if there is a penalty such as what occurred in the last 2 minutes, the time should stay on the clock. That is just one man's opinion. I could be wrong here. Why penalize the offense when it is a defensive penalty? Just a thought going forward. Now if it happens to us, we will probably get a rule change :)

And...rule change! Rare expediency by the NCAA

That's our main hope in my opinion right there. We play our best game of the season and Oregon sleepwalks. I want it to happen, I hope it will happen, but we'll need some special season magic in this one to make it so.
Isn’t that what happened vs Purdue? We played or worst game of the seaso, Purdue played their best? Let’s play our best against Oregon. 🤷🏼‍♂️

If you were given the choice of beating Michigan or Oregon, one is a win and one is a loss, which would you take?

Would Oregon being #1 or not change your answer?

I don't think anyone will be surprised that for me it's Michigan without a millisecond's hesitation.
Guess I’m in the minority but I’d choose Oregon for 2 reasons:
1. At 6-2 with that win, I think we’d control our own destiny to the playoff with 4 winnable games (personally think the Nebraska win is ultimately gonna look really good at the end). And probably an okay shot at making the B10 title game.
2. How many times have we beaten a top 1-2 team? We all still remember the Ohio state game…over 15 years ago - as cool of a game Michigan will be, unless the game itself is all time worthy, I think it’s a footnote 5 years from now of we beat a pretty good team while we had a pretty good year on a rededication day.

This is true. At the same time, I also distinctly remember over 15 years later, Illinois laying an egg in Iowa City and the infamous Hudson fumble with 9 minutes left against Michigan that was so deflating. That 9-4 team could have easily won at least 10 games that year. What also made the Ohio State win so much more improbable was when it took place (so late in the season vs in October).

1 Wolverine in the hand is worth 2 Beavers in the bush.

Edit: If Oregon isn’t #1…it’s not even the most remote of considerations. IMO

Thanks for the information. I have lived in the Portland area for over 20 years so am familiar with the Pacific NW. :)

I did purchase a couple of shuttle bus passes. That seems like a great way to get to the game. We'll get there early and explore, as I haven't spent too much time on campus, although I am pretty familiar with the Eugene/Springfield area.

I hope the Ducks can keep up with us and make it a competitive game. :D

I'll be rooting for the Ducks Friday in their game against Purdon't.
Well I'm a guy who worries about way to many things. The Purdue game has a lot to worry about... let down after Ohio St, short practice week, travel to Purdue... Also, Purdue has occasionally pulled off the upset against highly favored teams. Ducks better come ready to play, that's all I can say, then we can worry about Illinois.

I use to live in the West Hills (College St) of PDX, loved living there. Of course it seems things have changed a bit downtown, which is very disappointing. Hope they get things back to what they use to be. I really loved living there, I walked the "Park Blocks" to work (office in Big Pink), dropped down off the hill for the great farmers market at PSU. The Pearl, Powells, 23rd, Mississippi, Hippos, lunch on Pioneer Plaza.

I'll say Oregon... JMO.

Michigan for me, and it doesn't change if Oregon is ranked #1. Michigan is a traditional Big 10 rival. It's a major home game with the rededication. In terms of moving the needle for fan perception of the program (which is not an insignificant part of this discussion). It's just not much of a discussion.

I get the Michigan hype. A win at #1/2 Oregon would also move the needle. Either of these games would be massive. IMO an Oregon would be bigger - basically equal to 2007 OSU. The only reason this is different than the 2007 Michigan game is the rededication which is a big deal and puts it closer to beating a top opponent on the road.

If Illinois continues an upward trajectory, then we might have a different discussion in a couple of years.

No disrespect to Oregon at all, but I'm still something of a Big 10 traditionalist. At this point in time, the Michigan game is a bigger deal for me than the Oregon game. Obviously, I'd love to win both. But if I have to pick one game of the two right now, it's the Michigan game without a moment of hesitation.

I think nationally - we will get more attention if we defeat a number 1 team on the road. However, some people have personal views and would want to beat Michigan (if you can only choose one game). We are probably over analyzing - winning 1 of the next 2 would be absolutely massive for this fanbase. If we lose both, Minnesota is a must win (probably is a must win regardless).

Ehhh we are in good shape to make a bowl game this year. We should get at least one more win with the remainder of the schedule. Yes you never know in college football but just getting to a bowl game and winning it is a big step for this program. Our expectations in the beginning of the season were to just get back to a bowl game after a disappointing year last year. We are ahead of schedule there so I don’t think we should raise our expectations too much where we get overly disappointed. I’m not going there and will not go there because we have endured a lot of losing as a program. I’m just going to enjoy the ride wherever it will take us. This season so far has been a big success in my book.

I think you mean 2 Ducks in the bush ;)

(Unless that was a subtle trolling of our new conference brethren, in which case carry on, lol)
😂 yeah…that’s kinda what I was going for. Weaksauce. I’ll do better next time.

yeah, the ultimate reframe is our predicted wins was 3-4 at beginning of the year?

obviously we should have higher expectations given the start weve had but weve literally already exceeded most expectations for us.

bowl game would be great, above that is gravy

I feel your angst about the Purdue game but, don't worry too much, we tired them out for you last week.

And, yeah, we used to love going to downtown PDX but haven't been there much since the pandemic. Hopefully they can get it cleaned up.

Their defense is surely tired.
