Penn State 30, Illinois 13 Postgame

The improvement in the defense this last week was awesome! At least that's something.

Had a chance to watch 2nd half against Penn state. The 3rd Int on Luke early in 3rd qtr not his fault. Penn state Db literally committed 4 pass interference on Casey that play. And Nothing called! There's a reason Casey was not where Ball was thrown. Pedo St. Db shoved him 4x 10 yards down field. Simply put at 16 to 7 and moving ball. This changes whole game!

I want to run into the Smith center with a bra on my head and yell at the top of my lungs "GET REGGIE 25 TOUCHES PER GAME".
We have two legit game breakers on offense. Reggie and IW. If Barry Lunney Jr. can't figure out how to get these two the ball 25-30 times per game...I'm completely over him.
Sprinkle McCray, Elzy and Feagin in for some change of pace.

12 touches for Reggie?? Seriously?? Maybe Lunney is an ok OC...but our OL is not handling the pressure that this RPO is putting on Luke and the pitiful attempts to run that I've seen so far.

For the love of all that is sacred in football.....put Luke under center with some TE's and maybe a blocking back and show me what I watched Wisconsin do for YEARS! UNDER BB!!

Do they even practice a pro set with two backs? Two TE's?

RUN. THE. BALL!!!!!!

I AM GOING TO ALL CAPS UNTIL I'M KEYBOARD HOARSE!!/s

Why was he fired from Kentucky?

He was the Co-OC ... So really he just got fired because Eddie got fired ...

Stoops did not like that when the pass was not working early in the year and Eddie and Darin went to such a run heavy offense they almost didn't need a QB ... Stoops thought that the offense was "boring to watch" ... And really got a push from his AD to make a change ...

I think part of it was they couldn't recruit well enough to get elite guys that are needed in the SEC ... That offense in the Big Ten likely would have worked just fine ...
But hey ... That offense propelled them to 4 straight bowl games in 4 years ... And I challenge anyone to watch that UAB or UCF film and say that Hinshaw can't call an offense ...

And I also don't think anyone that is an Illinois fan would ever complain about 4 bowl games in 4 years ...

UTSA’s offense was very good in 2021 (37 points per game), which leads me to believe Lunney has potential.

I feel like much of our problems on offense at the moment (receivers not getting separation, Luke throwing to the wrong jersey, the offensive line not pass blocking well) are slightly outside of Lunney’s control.

But improvement is needed and it’s up to Lunney to figure it out.

I know the fans were pretty disappointed when Coen went to the Rams a couple of years ago. So with him coming back maybe Stoops/Barnhart figured they had the wunderkind back making Hinshaw expendable.

if its not the X's and the O's, then its the Jimmys and the Joes .
Either way, the coaches are ultimately responsible
