CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKE AGAIN. THIS I8S T6HE 3RD BIG GAME THEY BLEW DOWN THE STRETCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They do not know how to put the game away. Missed 2 free throws with 18 seconds to go that would have sealed the win. SICKENING!

This is the softest most listless Illinois team I can remember.

Who cares how good you are on offense if you can't stop the other team from scoring?

Who cares how good you are on offense when you absolutely crumble under the pressure in the last 3 minutes of games?

Who cares how good you are on offense when you can't even execute the basic fundamentals of inbounding the ball?

This is inexcusable.

This is one of the worst collapses I have seen. I wish Coleman didn't have these moments he did everything wrong at the end there
I'm really surprised the win expectancy at 40 seconds was only 96.4%

But still, 96.4!

We broke their pressure immaculately all game!

I can't believe what I just saw, I really can't. Sure we're bad at inbounding the ball, but that's only like a quarter of it.

Whatever.

I'll continue to watch and enjoy the good, but I have no expectations of a March run. Not with these last 4 or 5 defensive performances.

If you can't put it together with arguably the best player in college basketball and a 2nd round NBA 4/5? Whatever.
History on the brink of repeating itself…just like when we had both Ayo and Kofi.

I'm sorry. I don't know how you can call a foul on that 3 and not ok every single Illini drive throughout the game. Not to mention the fact that TSJ got hacked twice on the steal. Or the !!!!ing rent a hardwood that players couldn't cut on.
No, just no! No excuses for this loss! So what if he got hacked and both teams played on that court. I’m just not giving them a pass on that pathetic performance

I don't want to hear how it's hard to win on the road...

If you're any good:

You don't give up 90 to Penn State.

You don't urinate down your leg in the last 3 minutes.

You don't not know how to run an inbounds play.

You don't commit stupid fouls on three point shooters.

I could go on, but I'm going to put as much effort into this post as this team does in its defense.

The more I see of this years team the more I'm reminded of previous years teams in a lot of wrong ways. I will be pleasantly surprised, bordering on shocked, if this team gets to the 2nd round let alone the 2nd weekend.
You also had a dam double-digit lead with 16:00 mins to go. You gave that up, and then choked at the end. No excuses!

I just blamed the refs. Want to see me do it again?
Then you need to articulate why the Big Ten wants PSU (who isn’t even close to the Bubble) to upset one of two ranked Big Ten teams. It benefits nobody who’d be crooked enough to order it unless you just chalk it up to a specifically anti-Illini conspiracy.

Gotta draw up some better inbounds plays at the end there. Woof.
Maybe start with Domask catching the inbounds pass as our best FT shooter and mature ball handler. As much as I love TSJ he isn't was 13 for 19 from.the line and more likely to turn it over. I am.over certain choices given our talent. No way we should lose that game. Hawkins should have never had the ball to miss those 2 FTs. The foul was just foolish. Donask throwing it in is good for Penn state.

We have no real guard play. We have guys trying to do it, and they do well but ... they are wings. Often that works to our advantage -- size, rebounding -- but we get killed all over the perimeter owing to footspeed and awareness issues.
I didn't even want to touch on the PG situation right now. The fact that happened....again, is incredible.

To your point, we all knew that position was an issue in the off-season. We tried to convince ourselves that PG by committee was ok. It's not and it's cost us twice and it should have been three times(Nebraska at home).

Can we stop blaming the refs? If we need the refs to not be bad to beat a terrible Penn State team, what does that tell you?

THAT was the play of the game? Of all of the BS that we did to ourselves, you look at the refs? You can't be serious. We were up 7, with the ball, with 40 seconds left.

This is on effort, focus and execution by a team of seniors.
Yes! We got the ball to the right person. He made the play he needed to. If the foul is called and makes the free throws were up 6. Yes we let them have too many easy baskets, yes we missed free throws, but that foul has to be called or you don't call the foul on the three at the end. Shot was gone and Coleman barely touched him (it was a foul BTW).

We are now officially Iowa and this is what you get for playing an all-offense style of basketball.
