Believe it or not this is a winnable game. It sure wont be entertaining considering both incompetent offensive coordinators will be having heart attacks trying to gain yards on the other defenses.

Iowa game is now way more winnable than we would have thought a month ago. Their 17 - 12 win at Northwestern today isn't going to strike fear in the Illinois Football team.

My biggest worry about this game is a cheap shot by those dirty Iowa players knocking BP out for the season.

Also, I hope they teach BP how to slide during the by week. Looked pretty awkward against Rutgers when he tried.

Early speculation at the November 20th line in Iowa City.........

Obviously it should be a low scoring affair. One stellar defense (Iowa) and another that's been tough of late (Illinois). Only Purdue and Wisconsin have scored more than 20 against the Hawkeyes. Wildcats were a 12 point underdog at home this weekend and lost by just 5. Iowa will probably be Top 20.

Iowa -8.0

Which Bowl Game could theoretically be in play?

I was able to find the following recent Bowl projection from The Sporting News (written even before the Minny upset):

DATEBOWLMATCHUP
Dec. 27Quick Lane BowlSMU vs. Illinois

Will be tough to out physical Iowa. But I thought the same thing with Penn St and Minnesota and we did it. Hope we get everyone healthy going in.

Is there a place to see defensive rankings based on conference games only?

That’s awesome. Is there a way to scale it for tempo or points allowed per possession?

Rough example, we allow about 18 per game, but lets say on average our defense is on the field 6 times per game because our offense is so slow, we allow 3 points per possession (again rough example with round numbers for easy math).

But Nebraska’s offense plays fast, so their defense is on the field 10 times per game. They give up 25 which means they only allow 2.5 points per defensive possession (another rough example with round numbers for easy math).

Do those types of numbers exist for football?

We need Iowa to beat Minny this week. The higher Iowa is ranked, the better our upset of Iowa will look and the more attention we get and the more recruits notice.
