So Vegas is essentially predicting 25-13 Hawkeyes. I was expecting a line of just +8.5, so I'll definitely take the 12 points this week. However, I simply cannot put my money on a 3rd straight road win/upset vs. a ranked opponent.

Iowa 20
Illini 10

We cover. (Overall record in predicting winners now stands at 7-3.)
There's a trivia question... When was the last time that happened?

Untimely penalties.
Minny rb's had a field day on cutbacks and quick, wide pitches. Iowa's qb completed a couple bombs, but had several passes that coulda been picked, but weren't.
I think we match up well here; I like our chances. Gotta take care of the ball, and play up to our potential.
I think we match uo with them too, but we need our QB to have a good day in order for us to have a chance at a W.

Our QB took a ridiculous cheap shot, late hit last time in Iowa City when we actually were playing a pretty solid game. No penalty of course. So hope for payback/karma/redemption/can't-quite-find-the-right-word for him and his teammates on Saturday.

Let's hope that Brandon gets his pay back against Ia. I would hope we have a start like we did in the first quarter, but now we have a better def. Would love to see them shut down Ia like we did against PSU and Mn. We even shut down in my opinion against PU except that last drive.

That cheap shot still burns me up. Honestly, I had a healthy dislike for Iowa and then that hit happened. I wish them zero success in football (and basketball). Unfortunately, my better half has a degree from them.

With my son and daughter-in-law both Iowa grads, I learned that "Natty Light" is the popular beer in campus. I used to roll my eyes at that, but just realized that it actually fits with the team nickname. "Hawkeye" comes from Hawthorne's Leatherstocking tales (Last of the Mohicans, etc.): Hawkeye being the nickname of the hero. As all U of I grads of course know, the character's actual name is NATTY Bumppo. So, if you run into any Hawkeye fans drinking a Natty light, be sure to compliment them on their literature-inspired joke.
If they give you a confused look, just point to the beer, mention Natty Bumppo, and laugh. I'm sure they'll figure it out then. 😂

Painful memory, I know, but how many of our current roster were in the field in the 63-0 game? The memory of that game has to motivate, as much as the QB cheap shot. Then there is the recollection of the Iowa recruiter telling players we were recruiting Illinois was in a football hole so deep we would never climb out. I know there are periodic discussions of which B1G football program we dislike the most or who is our most despised rival. Is there really any question?

Pretty cool that our ppg against thru 7 games is less than Iowa's.

If we can make this an expectation...I am stoked!

Wait, compliment a Hawkeye fan? Is that for drinking the beer as opposed to throwing it at the team or Illini fans? Interesting post, otherwise.

I'm too much of a pessimist, all I can imagine is BP taking another cheap shot

A) Hope he’s okay. If he’s vaccinated there is a high likelihood his symptoms will be minor/non-existent. So that’s good.

B) I wonder how many players will test positive.

C) If a bunch go down for contact tracing, that basically ends the season. Hopefully that doesn’t happen.

D) If BB is truly the only one out, I wonder how the offense will look with him not being there. That’ll test the theory that he’s having a [negative] impact on TP’s play calling.

Man that's a tough one. He said he even got his booster last week.

Where is this theory coming from? Yeah BB has an offense that he wants to run here but he isn't telling TP which plays to call.

I'm assuming that BB will be connected to his assistants throughout the game. I'm more worried about players missing the game...
