As you're likely well aware, it's entertaining at the very least. A guilty pleasure, like Desperate Housewives.;):illinois:
Maybe so, but referring to Mark Turgeon as a "perfectly good coach suffering the inevitable cycles of recruiting and on-court fortunes" is being displaced from reality. The national media knows it and openly talks about it, but I guess that's not good enough for you.

Using "the national media" as a benchmark for reliable mediation of reality is, shall we say, charitable at best.

But you keep telling yourself Turge had to go. And that it's perfectly normal for a coach to be so fed up with surly fans and his AD given the success he enjoyed during his tenure that he literally walks into the tunnel after being booed off the court following a narrow loss to VT (who ended up wining the ACC tournament, crushing UNC and Duke) early in the season and begins negotiating his exit with said AD.

You'll note I'm not a Maryland taxpayer. There are reasons why.

I feel good about this game. I think we're going to demoralize them with our switching defense, take the crowd out of the game, and put up enough on offense that the final 10 minutes don't even feel competitive.

Illinois by 12.

Not to belabor the point, but there was lots of finger-pointing at Maryland fans in "National Media"/Coaching circles as well. Turgeon didn't help himself with how he handled it and certainly struggled enough where a new coach was the likely right move. You rightfully have high standards but have the stigma of turning on coaches pretty quick when those standards aren't met. That is neither here, nor there all fan bases can be that way. We all for the most part have much respect for Maryland as a program and having you strong again only helps the B10. Looking forward to a hard-fought injury-free game it should be a good one. Look forward to any insight from your perspective on your team match up tonight. We always welcome getting opposing fans perspective on this board so don't feel like we are attacking you as long as you can deal with the homerism that will be a part of any opposing team's board. How are you feeling about tonight and how Willard is doing so far?

Not even going to try to reason with you because you are so far off-base. Look at quotes from alumni, players, Maryland legends about Turgeon and the way he ran the program. He alienated everyone.

GL tonight, hope you get slaughtered in front of our “fair-weather” crowd.

While that is pretty pathetic and I have often been pretty underwhelmed with Maryland's fan support for being a "basketball school" in a relatively large state, you apparently never had the pleasure of being in Carver-Hawkeye Arena during the Lickliter years! :ROFLMAO:

Of course, every once in a while SOME fans would fill it up.
Michigan under Amaker was pretty bad, too, but I don't have any photos.

And I hope you poop your pants midway through the first half!

No, no, no. These crowns don’t look like they get to excited or loud ever. Hopefully the Maryland CROWD will look like these crowns when the Illini are up by 20! Then the crowd can crown illinois the winners. Good catch by the way. I’m sure I misspelled something in this post. Spelling is not a strength of mine. 💪🏻😆
Did you misspell Clowns or Crowds? Or were you talking about teeth?

I thought the whole point of forums like this was; we ARE the national media. We decide if its a narrative and they wisely follow our lead and pretend they’re an insider when they report it.

I'll be the first to declaim: "Why can't we all just get along?"

Will you join us at midnight for spirited postgame analysis and Loyalty After Dark (TM)?
I'll be there. I've got nothing else to do.

I have a request. I am committed to a dinner with friends that my wife and I haven't seen in a couple years. The good news is they are both fun couples I love seeing (which is rare for me). Better, one of the other couples are also Illini. I will have to watch the game on delayed recording, which I really hate. So, please don't start the postgame dialogue until I sign in. It's Hell trying to catch up.

I enjoy the later games on the weekend, but is this really at 9 pm Maryland time because of BTN hockey coverage?

Does anyone know why the last two seasons we have had a conference game followed by more non-conference games before resuming conference play? used to play all non-conference games then conference games started and went until the end of the regular season
