With a surgery on his throwing hand it's going to be a process to ramp up grip strength and make sure ball security isn't an issue.

He'll be fine once it's healed, but no reason to be excessive about trying to push him before that.
Yeah, this seems like a half-hearted "Keep 'em guessing" move that's technically justifiabale because Houser is at least making a few throws in practice. I think UCLA is the earliest we'll see him.

agree

listing him as doubtful and not out simply makes the other team spend some time game planning for him “in case”

edit : I see Chalmers beat me to it

anybody know what the story with Jayshon Platt? i hear the coach
indicate that he'll be in next week, then next week, then we plan on
him playing.... i dont like thinking bad things.
I hypothesized earlier in the week that I personally don’t think we will see him during the regular season- whatever his issue is , is bad enough to keep him out week after week .

if there was a case for guys to justifiably earn an extra year , it’s him & Perry

I think we are a different team now. Our defense played with great confidence against great talent. I look to see our D continue to improve. We clearly have our mojo now. Run the ball and play D like last Saturday and we take the Terps down without much fuss

I was listening to a podcast with Jeremy and J Leman earlier in the week. They said he was getting close, but then had a "setback" in practice last week. So I don't know exactly what happened, but I agree with you that it's looking doubtful that we see him this season.

I wonder about a guy who has "setbacks" in practice. What will happen if he ever gets in a game and gets smacked hard by a B1G defensive player? Not knowing the nature of the injury, it is hard to say. I feel for Platt, and wish him all the best, but this has been a heck of a situation. Shades of Mikey Dudek?

Listened to a podcast earlier this week and Jeremy said with 5 for 5, there's no medical redshirt seasons and exemptions anymore.

I graduated in late 80s and could pay for it with savings from working summers and a part-time job during the year. In grad school, my stipend paid all my expenses --one bedroom apartment, food, etc., as long as I lived poor. My how times have changed.
Tuition was around $900 a semester when I was in school 83-85, and that was for unlimited credit hours. Now the typical tuition for undergrads is $ per credit hour. I was able to scoot through by taking 17-26 semester hours every semester. The greatest bargain in higher education IMHO.

'84-'88 here. Absolutely no doubt, even at 3x for non-Illinoisans like me (few as we were at the time.)

My normal policy is that I don't want to hurt no Turts. I have no problem though with frightening them back into their shells. Illinois 24, Maryland 13.

Brother, while you’re gearing up, I’m halfway up the mountain already.
yup

Bret doesnt want to start discussing the bad luck situation of BOTH wr portal signings getting injured out . it’s just terrible bad luck

I noticed they don't even listen Alex Perry is out. I'm assuming he's left the program?

Locksley was always a beast Recruiter. His DC and Baltimore area connections landed us Arrelious Benn and Vontae Davis (RIP) on that 2007 Rose Bowl team, among others.

Also wild to think that Zook was back on Locksley's staff at Maryland the last few years as an assistant/staffer. Crazy times.

Corey Liuget is on the Maryland staff now

This is a soft tissue injury. Dudek has major knee injuries.

Locksley and Zook together could sell snow cones at the south pole. What neither can do assemble a fundamentally sound football team and then coach it on game day.

Really looking forward to attending the game. Perfect fall football day forecast: partly sunny to partly cloudy through 4 p.m., temps 58 at kickoff rising to 63. Light wind (5-6 mph) coming from the north to NNW. That's basically blowing into the horseshoe end (on your left as you watch on TV) to the open end (on your right) and the large NE side of the stadium (having a huge, ugly balcony.)

SECU Stadium is unusual. Nearly all college stadiums are oriented so that the field runs N-S and the home sideline is on the west side (the sun is increasingly in the faces of the opposing sideline as the game progresses.) The Terps' stadium is oriented NW-SE with the home sideline on the SW side.

OK; no more meteorology and Rain Man stadium details. Football! :illinois:
