I am waiting for this team to have an explosion on offense--similar to the R2 Cincinnati game in Ohio back in 2004, I believe. It was a 4/5 game thinking maybe Cincinnati was the favorite, but the Illini came out firing and made everything skyrocketing their confidence to face Duke and be a powerhouse in '05.

The Illini need a few of those games.

As much as it pains me to type this, I see a L here. Izzo is coaching for his tournament life. Hoggard seems to have a fire about him when he plays us. Big win if we pull it off, but I just don't think we've put the pieces together defensively yet to win in what will be a raucous environment.

This game and our season will all hinge on our defense. Need to get back to forcing teams to take long 2s. We were so good on that end early in the year and have just fallen apart.

With that said, I think we handle Sparty. They aren’t the type of team that gives us immense challenges. They don’t have a big man to punish Coleman, and they’re too small to guard us as long as we play our offense and hunt mismatches. There’s nowhere for Walker to hide. Ty or Domask will back him down, TJ will go right through him. Even Akins and Hoggard are too small to match up properly with anyone in our starting lineup.
