Or a USC-type snoozer. I admire your cool nature, but can't find the tranquility that you do. I think I will be concerned about every single game this team plays. But I have to admit, I was concerned about every game last year, and in 2004-5 as well. I imagine, I suppose irrationally, that my concern magically promotes winning for the Fighting Illini.

We haven't generally had multiple of those close together, though.
I guess I'm keeping calm because, with a few obvious exceptions, we pass the eye test and I just feel like we were bound for lapses given how young we are. To me, it was never about being perfect. It was about putting all these newcomers and kids together and finding our groove by March. And that hasn't been jeopardized yet.

Nb has Geary and Williams that have to be guarded. Can't let the crowd enter in and put Nb away like they did to NW.
Do the Huskers have size? Curious to what their strengths are esp in the paint.

This is a game we need if we expect to pull away from the pack in conference play. Doubt we'll have Tomi, so we need another strong effort from Morez. He's mature and strong for a freshman, but it's obvious he's not a threat to score from beyond 5 feet. Sure loving the progress of Jake Davis. Little by little, he's becoming a key player for the Illini.

I think the point is that we rack up the 20 point margin in the first 20 minutes and then play even or give up most of that lead in the second 20. See Indiana and NW.

Illini in Indiana

While Tomi is out, we need a Morez back up option. Carey Booth is soft & Ben is slow. Road games will try to get Morez in foul trouble, and our rebounding edge will suffer. I'd love to see Will Riley step up and be a bit of a rim protector/rebounder. I know he is not "thick", but he needs a job on the team and it will help offense side too if he is more in the game flow.
Despite what their conference record would suggest, they aren't a bad a team or a pushover.
All of the metrics(Kenpom, torvik, net, etc.) have them ranked between 50-60 and in line with the likes of teams like USC, Indiana, Northwestern, and that tier).
They are pretty averaged sized for a major conference team these days wouldn't say they are really big or small.
Nothing about their profile really stands out but they are a good defensive rebounding team and they are a Fred Hoiberg coached team so despite lacking some talent imo they are well coached and will run pretty good offensive sets.
Not a great 3pt shooting team but have some guys that can hurt you mainly Williams and Essegian(former Badger) but Berke is a euro big that can get hot and knock down some shots depending on what version of him shows up.
Brice Williams can play though, has good size and can score in a lot of different ways(scored 23 in the conference tournament game last year). I assume Tre White is going to get the assignment but he is very capable of doing what Claude did to us and the Illini don't really have anyone other than White that matches up great with him.

Here is a quick overview of relevant info to our current frontcourt situation. I'll let smarter folks than me evaluate, as I think I've only tuned in for one half of Nebraska basketball so far this year:
Nebraska big men:
Andrew Morgan - 6-10 242 lb Sr, averaging 18 min of the bench scoring 8 pts with 4.5 rebounds.
Berke Buyuktuncel - 6-10 244 lb So, starting PF with 23 min per game scoring 8 pts, 5.8 rebounds shooting 31% from 3
Braxton Meah - 7-1 264 lb Sr, starting C with 15 min per game scoring 3 pts, 3.6 rebounds
Nebraska's offensive is statistically unremarkable, falling in the middle of the pack of D-1 for most offensive stats. Their rebounding margin is +1 compared to our +11.
Their stat that may be our Achilles heel as it relates to our team's inconsistency is their average D-1 Experience, which is 2.74 years. This is 28th in the country, so they're an experienced team. I took a quick look at our wins and losses, the average experience of teams we lose against is 2.42 while the average experience of teams we beat is 1.79. If you adjust this to teams better than a 100 rank in KenPom, this changes to 2.19 for teams we've beaten. The oldest teams that we've lost to are Tennessee, Bama, and USC.
KenPom gives us -4, 77-73 with a 65% chance to win.

It won't be easy, but I think Nebraska fooled some people in the noncon. They played awesome @ Creighton and then played like nobody else.
More will be ok, as long as B1G refs are not calling the game.
I feel like Brad and co. misevaluated CB and BH. Wish Amani had stuck around but it wasn’t to be.
