It just so happens our next two games in BB and FB are against the Purple Puddy Tats of Northworstern. Cross posted in the BB thread . . .

There is is a lot of football history in Wrigley Field.

A few links . . .

"For the majority of the 50 years they played at Wrigley Field, the Bears were quite happy. The team won eight NFL championships playing at the stadium, always in front of sold out crowds."

"Wrigley Field is where University of Illinois star Harold “Red” Grange played his first game for the Bears on Nov. 26, 1925, in front of 36,000 fans."

There wasn't room (at the 50) for a bench on the other side of the field.

This game occurred before the most recent Wrigley renovation. The third base wall and dugout can now be removed for football. In 2010, it was felt that there was not enough room past the outfield side end zone. The concern was that players would run into an actual brick wall (padded). Therefore, all offensive plays went towards the third base end zone. The entire field has now been shifted away from the outfield wall towards third base. It had nothing to do with the sidelines. I attended the game with my daughter and it was weird but very enjoyable.

I read the policy on items that are allowed/disallowed for Wrigley. Surely they’ll let me bring a small blanket in right? Didn’t see that specifically.

it’s totally different now. way different

it’s a two week probably million dollar exercise in removing brick walls , seats & Cubs dugout to give room . the field today is not only shifted west to give room to east end zone end line , but also shifted north to give room for normal set up of teams & coaches on opposite sides of the field

0. High of 23. Wind chill values near 0.

Good luck to everyone in attendance!

Try sitting through the Dolphins @ Chiefs wildcard game last year. The temperature got to -4 degrees with a wind chill of -27 🥶🥶. So cold that my hands turned numb after only 30 seconds without gloves on. And then on top of that, my Dolphins couldn't even make a game of it 😔.

I don't think meager attendance at a game with a projected 23 degree high means jack. I've got six tickets and I think the odds of me getting the wife and kids out the door are <50%, and less than that to last until halftime. 🥶⛄
Example of our poor fandom.
