Northwestern it seems historically is unpredictable or bibpolar. When Fitz got fired they looked like they were by far the worst p5 team for a bit, then turned out to not be bad at all. They also have a tendency to lose big (like 50-6) then be a totally different team the next week. Maybe my view on that is because I only remember those dramatic 180s, but seems to go back to the Barnett days.

I’m confident the illini are the better team and as such should come away with the win, but NW is still a (lower) mid tier big 10 team, and between the mid tiers anything can happen week to week. Can’t take this lightly at all. Put in max effort during the week and then get some time off before a bowl.

Go Illini. Get win #9!

“ Bibpolar” might be my new favorite typo/autocorrect casualty…#2 is definitely “battery ram”.

At Wrigley Field, this is basically a home game for the Illini.

Northwestern may still have a good chance at making a bowl with 5 wins: let’s keep them at four and end Willie’s season this weekend.

Supposed to be cold. We need to run the ball down their throats. It is always windy in Wrigley also. I think NW has packed it in for the season and we roll them 31-10

APR

If there are not enough eligible teams to fill all the bowl slots, additional teams may be selected, according to the following priorities, which must be applied in descending order:[2]

  1. Teams which would have met the eligibility criteria if not for the fact that they had one win against an FCS team that did not meet the scholarship requirement and no waiver was granted.[3]
  2. Teams which played 13 games during the regular season and finished with a 6–7 record.[3]
  3. Teams in their second year of reclassification from FCS to FBS football.[3]
  4. Teams with at least 5 wins and no more than 7 losses, in order of their Academic Progress Rates (APRs).[3]

I would think that this team will recognize that 9 wins in the regular season is a special place for Illinois and they will not get caught looking ahead to an unknown opponent of a bowl game. Given that we will likely see some seniors sit out the bowl game, our best chance at 9 wins is Saturday at Wrigley. That should be plenty of motivation, I hope.

I'm seeing ILLINI -9.0, at cold/windy Wrigley Field.

A bit surprising, given it's a neutral venue. Depending upon injuries, I'm leaning towards taking the Illini to cover.
If second half from yesterday Illini show up, this should be a very comfortable cover. I expect Bryant to have a field day, and another 2 to 3 td operation from McCray. If Michigan can put up a 50 spot on Nortwestern, Illinois should be able to easily get 30+ points.

Illini open as 9 point favorites. I have to believe the Illini are a good bet to cover that number.
