Haha, meant it to be a plus + symbol. Sorry if your beach house is gone.:)

I really think we win. I'm not a gambler but a 6 point favorite for Northwestern over us in a rivalry game is too much.

Does anyone think the substitution and minutes strategy changes now that the post season isn't a realistic possibility, and Groce on his way out?

I think it needs to, I think we have would have been better off playing an 8 or 9 man rotation all year. I understand trying to keep everyone happy but I think the chemistry might have been better with a shorter bench

I have a pretty sturdy step ladder, but the top step is shrouded in profanity.

Would love to see the team give Northwestern a "bad loss" for their NCAA tournament resume. NU already won their first bowl game in history this year. First NCAA tournament can wait for another year.

They'd have to have a pretty terrible run down the stretch to miss, they're comfortably in right now.

This team in BIG road games:

Loss @ Maryland by 25
Loss @ Indiana by 16
Loss @ Purdue by 23
Loss @ Michigan by 9
Loss @ Penn State by 4

That's an 0-fer. I see you're looking at past seasons, but I don't really think that's as indicative as this season.

Counter Point: We're due. If you'll excuse me I have to run to the roulette table. It's just come up red five times in a row. No way it comes up a sixth.

I am so tired of the college basketball season not being any fun. No matter what is going on, it just isn't fun when we suck. And we suck.
Totally agree. Let's get a great coach, then even a meaningless game is fun!

I'm fully aware of our how our season has unfolded, thanks :)

Our crappy team last year only lost @ NW by 2 points. I don't expect us to win, your post was just being purposefully abrasive, seeing as the post you originally replied to was about career record against NW and not specific to this season.

Huh? Here's my post
and in BIG road games? 0-fer

Covering the spread would be a moral victory. Can't see us winning.

Here's my post after you said Groce was 2-2 at NW

How you get abrasive from that is beyond me.

If the Illini are going to win a game as a major underdog on the road that they have no business winning this season, this is the game.

First this is a trap game for NU, our game is sandwiched between them playing the 3 best teams in the league (PU,IL,WI,MD)... those games are much more important and you could see them looking ahead (yes even after a 20 pt loss). Also, facing NU w/o their leading scorer and most prolific 3 pt shooter (45 3PT made) is very significant. Northwestern shot 35% & looked simply terrible w/o Lindsey vs Purdue. Particularly, NU's defense was lost w/o Lindsey's length defending on the perimeter. JCL, Finke and our other 3pt shooters could have a nice game w/ these match-ups.

I still think we are going to lose, but this one is setup for a possible upset.

Northwestern has a chance to win out and possibly win the Big Ten. Their ladder starts tonight.

If the Illini are going to win a game as a major underdog on the road that they have no business winning this season, this is the game.

This part is true solely by virtue of the fact this is our most difficult road game remaining. Iowa, Rutgers, and Nebraska after that, and that's it. Winning in those venues would not be particularly impressive, save for considerations of the fact that many of us may not believe Illinois will win a road game this year.

First this is a trap game for NU

I disagree, "rivalry" (I don't consider it to be a rivalry, but I'm sure both coaches are promoting it in the locker rooms as such) games are never trap games. Especially for the historically little brother in the "rivalry". I agree with the rest, missing Lindsey opens the possibility of an upset, but it won't be because it's a trap game, it'll be because they're missing their best marksman.

So, I finally made my peace with the Groce era being over after the last game. At this point, the only thing that could muddy the waters and make things confusing and awkward is wins.

Knowing that nothing can ever be easy for Illinois, I therefore guarantee that we win our next two games and spend the week off after that chasing our own tails after Trent Frazier tweets something in support of Groce.
