This will be a great test of where we are at the moment. A win would be a huge step. I'm just not sure we can overcome the athletic disadvantage and stay out of foul trouble. That last one is key. No foul trouble and we probably win.

Look at this mass of humanity that KenPom has placed above us in the current rankings:

We can, and should, move up within (and out of) this group. Make it happen, fellas. :illinois:

In the offseason and early on this season, I heard lots of chatter about how we'd win some we should lose and lose some we should win with this young team. Well, we've had more than our share of games we should have won that we lost. Now it's time to start notching some in the "win some we should have lost." Sunday in Columbus would be a great place to start that.

To be fair, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Wake and Iowa all beat us. But agree that we should move up. Cmoooooon momentum

That Bates-Diop kid really worries me. It would just be Illinois-like if he goes off on us for something like 50-ish.

Don't think so. BU will have a scheme to limit him. If they play defense like the last game it will come down to shooting. Shoot like against Rutgers and we win, but that it a big if.

Yes to this. The BIG curiosity. What might that scheme look like?? I can't wait to see.

It wouldn't be really Illinois-like, because he's been great against everybody. He went for 30 against MSU.

I actually feel like some tertiary player seems to step up against us. At least in the Groce era it seemed that way. We actually limited the other teams best player well at times, but some guy who averages 5 pts would drop a 20 burger on us and look like an AA.

Times are changing though. OSU is more than just KBD, but hes a big reason they are where they are now. Too bad Groce couldn't coach against his old backcourt mate.

Right, that's what I mean. True Illinois style is for some guy averaging 3 a game to go for 17.

I'd actually like to see our recent history against top individual players. Granted, there hasn't been many lottery picks in the Big Ten the past 10 years, but matchups with Kris Dunn & Dennis Smith stick out in my memory in terms of NBA talent we kept in check.

But then, so did our #2 (Izzo's ignorant reference to Kipper (almost)). :D

I predict we win (as long as we can score more points than they do).

Perhaps all we need is for BU to find a progressively more grotesque jacket than the last two games. Whatever it takes!

Underwood: Getting ready for a very, very good Ohio State team. Kaleb Wesson is going to be a problem in this league for some time. Veteran guys on the perimeter. Bates-Diop is probably the POY in the conference.

Underwood: Bates-Diop's physical attributes are scary. Wingspan is long. Shooting it at a really high clip. Can score off the bounce & in the post. Very defined game. Body has developed & has matured into a guy playing with tremendous confidence.

Underwood: Offensively, I think we've played better basketball. Become more consistent defensively. We've fouled less.

Underwood: Mark Smith has been so good in practice. He needs to see that transfer to the court. Needs to regain some of that confidence and some of that swagger.

Underwood: There's a tremendous amount of confidence that comes from doing things right on a consistent basis. If we make shots, we've got a whole other level to go to.

Finke shooting

If anyone has a way to speak to mike finke please ask him to quit fading left right or back on his threes when he is going towards the basket he doesn’t miss

Honestly, I'll be happy with just 40 minutes of consistent decent basketball.
