No shame in our game, #1, away, long road trip, insane crowds. Too much to overcome.

True. And who can forget that Jesus's first miracle was turning water into wine.*Millenia (in Europe)
And its consumption has been permissable, encouraged even, by the church throughout most of that time. The oldest brewery in the world was started by the Catholic church. The connection between abstaining from alcohol and moral purity didn't really become popular until the Temperance movement of the 19th century. Nothing but respect for anyone who chooses not to drink though.
Like any good Midwesterner, I always took pride in my beer drinking. Then, in my mid-twenties, I spent a weekend in Kholer, Wisconsin and proceeded to get out drank by soccer moms, who in doing so, barely broke a sweat or slurred a word. It was then I realized that in the pantheon of beer drinkers, it is Wisconsin and then it is the rest of us mortals.
However, the PNW may well have the Midwest beat in cannabis consumption (although Paducah might have something to say about that) and they certainly have us beat in the category of serial killers per capita.
Question: When they say five drinks for a man, is that a can of beer? glass of wine? or a martini?
As an Oregonian, I'd be plastered if I had five good pours of my favorite Pinot Noir. I actually have an "Oregon Pinot Noir" glass that will hold a full bottle of Pinot if poured carefully
Looking at the current rankings, I’m not sure we’d jump into top 10 next week unless it was a dominating win. That said, we wouldn’t be that far below 10 even with an 1-point win, and we’d certainly be legit CFP contenders.
Beating the consensus #1 team on the road (by even 1 point), three other ranked wins at time game played, with the only loss to a top 3 team on the road would easily make the Illini top 10 and legit CFP contention. Even the nation is not that stupid.
There is no understating how big of an opportunity Saturday is for the program.
Unless it's enough rain to slow down Oregon's team of track stars, I'm not sure I like this. Our passing game is the most dangerous part of our offense and on defense we've been susceptible to the run while very opportunistic against the pass. Heavy rain conditions tends to skew run heavy and I don't think that helps us unless we've got those type of players who may run a bit slow but run at the same speed regardless of field conditions. Speaking of, it's why I used to love playing in the rain, I was always below average speed, but the nastier the conditions, the faster I looked, lol. For the pony affionados, I was a mudder, haha. Hope we have a team of them.Sat. forecast for Eugene: Slip N Slide
O-W-W but what logo??
Looks like the rain will wait until about 6 PM as is mandated by Autzen Stadium (No rain during games). Of course, Oregonians may have a different definition of "rain" than someone from Illinois. We have heavy fog that can get you wet, mist that makes you dry your glasses, rain that doesn't really get you wet, sideways rain (stay indoors), wet rain (what we consider "real rain"). I probably missed a few...As you will find out "It NEVER rains at Autzen!!"
I do believe rain is suppose to hold off until around 3PM Pacific, so staying with tradition it won't rain during the game or certainly most of the game.
Oh, and if you are at the game, you'll also learn "Kenny Wheaton is going to score!!"
This is a great read, thanks for posting this.Urban Meyer Breaks Down the Bret Bielema Effect at Illinois
On the Big Ten Network, Meyer pointed out a play that speaks to Bielema's influence in Champaignwww.si.com
Here’s the part on Illinois.Joel Klatt had an excellent preview of the matchup on his podcast today (starts around 8 minute mark). Picks the Illini to lose but acknowledges how sound of a team BB has built. Also right there in the camp of “this spread is too high”
There ya go…that eloquently sums up this fun but goofy debate. Yet, it’s got me wound up still. So I’m gonna blather on about it anyway…Wisconsin to Illinois residents is like Oregon is to Californians. The place up North you go to be in nature and drink to excess.

Wisconsin and the arrowhead of Minnesota, I expected. lol Iowa. The best part is that the Univ. of Wisconsin produced this map, I assume as a public health initiative.

I didn't tell you not to drink. If you don’t want to drink, fine … but it’s been a part of European and by extension American culture for centuries. The pitch to get other people to abstain is a pointless and losing battle, but I applaud anyone who chooses not to drink for his own personal reasons.
Our worst look for our biggest game, oh well. Someone on this staff is clearly convinced that is this really cool combo for some reason, lol. A win would make it worth it!O-W-W but what logo??

Any chance we see Ca'Lil Valentine this week? I feel like his quick first step could make all the difference against a front 7 like Oregon's. Or is he slated to redshirt?Illinois at Oregon
