Playing in front of a friendly crowd clearly frightens our boys due to the heightened expectations and uncomfortably "warm and fuzzy" feeling ... these are road warriors. They will welcome the chance to be the crowd silencers once again, you see.

In fact, some of you might need to try to sell your tickets for the game in Evanston to make it feel more like a road game for our boys, as all indications are that's going to be like a 65% orange crowd, haha. :ROFLMAO:

Obviously, it will take either our D throwing them off their rhythm enough to win or our offense being on fire. The first is much more likely and what we need to bank on.

Speculation of 1 - 2 weeks, but no one knows exactly what the injury is or how he will respond to treatment. One would think the staff will err on the side of caution.
They did scans and found no structural damage, so it's more what the player can take and whether his knee can get loose. No structural damage means not even a small tear, so no reason to believe he'll be at risk when he gets back.

Depends on the injury, which we still don’t and may never know. If it’s a sprain or pull, that could certainly be aggravated by pushing it too soon. Agree about the risk of a structural injury. He has the best care he could get anywhere. He’s ready when he’s ready.

Werner had a Dr of Physical Therapy on today discussing possible scenarios for those interested.

4 weeks is probably the most likely outcome.
My wife recently had a similar injury and that was about how long it took for her knee ligaments to get strong again.

I'm guessing we'll be in the dark until about 30 minutes before the first game he plays in, which is just fine as far as I'm concerned.

I would expect BU to give some indication of Ayo's status in his pregame presser, sometime tomorrow

My guess is half that time, there was zero structural damage. One poster said, yeah, 4 weeks is how long my wife took to get back. Ayo is in a lot better shape than your wife and his muscles are way stronger, unless she's some kind of workout warrior. He's going to get way more therapy than the normal person would as well.

2 is best case scenario.

1. She is a workout warrior (although I will concede not nearly at the scale of a D1 athlete).
2. She was getting PT and actively working on her knee (so yes probably also more than a "normal" person)
3. There was no "structural" damage to her knee either, whatever that means. I assume it to mean no tear / sprain, but I assume it could include a strain. If it was a strain, I think that puts it a little closer to the 4 week interval if trying to minimize the risk of reinjury.
4. Just reporting out a personal experience that had some parallels. She is fit and she is strong, with active PT. It will be what it will be, but I really hope you are right, cause I want to win.

Glad Ayo is going to be okay. In the meantime next man up. Really hoping Frazier takes over vs Rutgers. We really need a win.

I'm expecting a defensive struggle on Saturday. Without Ayo, I suspect we'll lack the offensive firepower to pull out the W.

Our ability to score is going to be an issue against their size, especially in the backcourt. Ayo's size at the guard position is going to be missed badly. Scoring depth also will be a problem. Finally, who will be the guy that holds it together if things get tight in the final minutes or who will be the guy to shut down a run with a critical bucket? These next two games are going to be rough.

That place is going to be going bananas and I just don't see an area where we have an advantage given our current situation.

Enjoying watching Iowa get their fannies kicked by Indiana at the moment. Garza with @55% of Iowa's entire offensive output.

You sir are a rain cloud. Worried about size in the backcourt? In their entire careers there haven’t been many times Frazier or Dre have had a size advantage playing basketball. A lot of Dre’s game is making plays in the trees. The biggest size advantage on the floor actually belongs to us, and, despite being in a slump Giorgi has been an absolute nightmare for Rutgers. Not claiming all of that will necessarily be a deciding factor in this game, but we have some advantages too.

I know that I'm not a ray of sunshine on this one, but when I look at that Rutgers roster, I don't think they play anyone under 6'4". At 6'5", Ayo had the vision to be able to see the floor and enter the ball into the post, which is not a strength of our guards as a group.

I'm hoping you're right.

If he's out until B10 tourny than were not going to make the dance

We currently have 8 wins in the BIG. I would guess we need 2 more (in season or BIG tournament) to feel pretty good on Selection Sunday. 3 more and I believe we're a lock. To make such a definitive statement seems a bit much for a team that has a lot of weapons and 3 more home games that includes Nebraska and a road game at Northwestern. In no way am I saying any of these are guaranteed wins but I like our chances.

Not necessarily true. The schedule, on the whole, is favorable down the stretch. I like our ability to beat Northwestern and Nebraska for sure. Iowa and Indiana at home are VERY winnable(should be wins). These next two.....very tough, with or without Ayo.

If we can't find four wins in there....don't deserve to go.
