this game no doubt means a lot to Skyy. expect to see UCLA give us their best effort
Wouldn't they give their best effort no matter whom they are playing?

In a weird way this game worries me more than Friday against Michigan.

Agree I think the revenge storyline is pretty fizzled out at this point. Skyy had another stop at Louisville, seems to have settled in at UCLA, and by all accounts said good things about Illinois and encouraged Tre White to transfer here. Also seems like he has a little bit of Ace Wolf type regret for leaving how he did.

I tried to edit but wasn’t able to, but the other storyline that’s concerning for me is UCLA is a team fighting for its tourney lives coming off 2 embarrassing losses. They are probably on the right side of the bubble right now but if they win tonight I think they are a lock. We will get their best shot.
Same could have been said about USC (maybe). Bring it on!

i think sleepers actually makes a good point is about how effective Andrej is off the bench to balance out Wagler so that they're not competing for the ball when they're on the floor together.
I don't think that has anything to do with it. Who has the ball depends on all 5 match ups. Nothing else. Not being able to prep for Andrej (not knowing what the combination will be when he comes into the game) is a coaching nightmare. The opposition can't prep for the 5 or 6 most likely combinations. They can only prep for 2 or 3. We don't balance the floor offensively. We put the ball in the hands of the match up we want and the screen is set in the direction we want the ball to move. Everything after that is ball movement.... except along the baseline.

OT:

This is why Trevor Bauer would have been good for the MLB to welcome back.

It's absolutely good to have villians in sports. It's why professional wrestling is so popular. Villians and heroes and their battles are deep in the human subconscious.
Bauer got F’d but the MLB.

Man, I hope Illinois fans take this place over today. I will be arriving early to find parking and look around for a bit at Pauley.

PSA to anyone going to the game:
- Clear bag policy in effect
- Prohibited: Any outside beverages other than factory sealed water 32oz/1 liter or less, (empty reusable bottles are allowed; no glass)
- Allowed: Outside food is allowed inside, but must be brought inside a clear bag.
I’m gonna be there! I’ll be the guy in orange shouting I-L-L. 😎

It's the Bob Knight, Gene Keady, etc type coaches. It's the hero/villain dynamic. Players fall into that category too. Who was hated more by opposing fans than Dennis Rodman and Bill Laimber? When he signed with the Bulls, who loved antics more than us Bulls fans?
I heard that after his coaching days were over, Bobby Knight ran a furniture store. He had a special deal that if you bought a couch, he'd throw in a chair.

Why would this game mean anything more than any other for skyyy clark? It's not like we ran him off and didn't pay him. Guy took his money and quit. I ask again,,why would a selfish person care?

Where does the relevance of what players are getting paid come into playing time? We pay the coaches to win. There is no connection to what any player gets paid in any sport to playing time. The coach decides that.

I just don't understand the conversation. This team has pieces to win a National Championship. But to do that, you can't be selfish or one bit concerned about who gets paid what or how much players are paid.
I mean it's definitely true that the plan in building this team was to have AS be a much more high-usage, high-scoring part of it, and as a season progresses it's reasonable to expect things to move in the direction of the original plan.

But we're way past that now. No one thought two 18 year olds would be driving the bus, but they are, this team has something special, and it's going to keep pursuing that. And AS remains a key part of that, both in the flexibility of his game and his scoring ability as another tool in the toolkit. He's made big contributions both loud and quiet throughout the year.

This isn't the role AS came for and I don't expect it's a role he'll be willing to stay for, but those are not questions that should be in anybody's head right now, and to AS and the rest of the team and staff's credit, they don't seem to be.

Jake starting right now is what I think gives us the best chance of winning a game...........love seeing him swishing a couple 3's to start the offense going , then after the 1st media timeout bring in Dre for his dazzling drives to thew rim.......Jake has loosened up the opponents defense then Dre gives his patented shot fake and pounces on the rim with a slam or a and 1................

has to be demoralizing to them to see all the options they must defend......those alley oops to Big Z seem to take a lot of wind out of their sails.....................hoping for another landslide victory and allowing us to keep minutes levels around 30 mins for all...............

LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's our time Mr. Hand.

Thanks for the PSA. I’ll be getting there early too. What’s the best parking structure for easy access to Paulette Pavilion?
