Last year I was at the Michigan game in Ann Arbor. This year I was at Purdue. I'll be making my way to these next two games. Gotta keep the road win streak running...
I'm jealous

I’ve never gotten the impression this staff isn’t overly cautious with players, however I don’t think they really hold players back if they want to give it a go.

And agreed that the difference between a 2 or 3 is minimal however, we could get stl as a 2 seed. Might be a minor advantage, but an advantage nonetheless. Similarly I’d rather play one of the current teams on the 3 line rather than the 2, though obviously minimal.

But you’re right, I’d rather everyone be as close to 100% healthy and ready for March rather than risk a more serious injury. If that means giving up a 2 seed so be it.
I'd be happy with three but we have to wait for the outcome of the rest of the games especially Michigan..

Missing starter Kylan at MSU
Missing starters Kylan and Andrej vs. Wisconsin

we lose both games in OT so 1 play would have turned them into wins.

Now we potentially have both back. We already saw impact of just getting Kylan back vs. Indiana.

Future's so bring - gotta wear shades.

This Saturday I will be at UCLA game with I suspect a lot of Illini alums.

whether he plays or not at USC he is clearly progressing well and we should expect to have him down the stretch barring any setbacks
That's my takeaway too. That's a LOT more positive commentary that we got from Brad after the Indiana game. That sounded ominous. All that said, unless he's 95%+....he sits. He's too important for March.

USC number one offensive FTR in the country, Illinois number one defensive FTR in the country.

If Baker-Mazara doesn’t play, this could get ugly. Arenas has been very very good since debuting a month or so ago. Ausar is great too. His inability to shoot threes gives me hope we can play extend zone minutes and either DORK or play drop coverage against him the rest.

USC 71% from the FT line … Gets worse if Baker-Mazara (90% from the line) does not play.

Unsure if already posted (don’t think I saw it yet)

Illinois -8.5
USC is no joke talent wise and at their place- the fact we are favored by 8.5 says a lot about this team and the current state of the program. I'm guessing the UCLA spread will be around -3.5 or -4.5?

And weren't all the regular season losses when Gill was out? I believe that is the case. The 89 team maybe gets lost in the fog of history but that is one of the best teams of the modern era to not win a title. UNLV 91 is probably the leader, then maybe 15 Kentucky, 89 Illinois & 05 Illinois pretty high up there also.

Not to mention their style both in play & fashion was pretty much revolutionary at the time.
That is correct. PJ Bowman filled in for Gill.

Torvik is usually really close on these unless there’s player availability or something that Vegas might take into account (and Torvik does not). Anyway, Torvik has us as 8.3 point favorites vs USC which is right on. They have us as 5.6 point favorites vs UCLA.

I am unsure if CBM misses this game, it was a grade 1 knee sprain that occurred on Feb 3rd. Typical time missed seems to be 1-3 weeks and we’re right in the middle of that.

USC is not a bad team, we’re grossly underestimating them imo

A 7 man rotation on the road against a team with good players is not easy
Seems to me you are overestimating them. It seems like every team we play I see multiple people overhyping that team. They have a couple of good players but not a deep team at all. Outside of their Wisconsin win I don't see anything they've done that says we are underestimating them. They are an average team in this conference. Right there or below with Indiana. That's it. And yes I know they beat Indiana but as a whole Indiana has better wins than USC.

You’re right…I agree. USC is a hungry bubble team and I’m not overlooking them or Musselman. That said, we should be able to beat them with our current 7-man rotation. Our team is that good.

Bye bye, Mr. Trojan Pie,
Keaton drives the lane as Trojans blow by,
Them Champaign boys drinking Gatorade dry,
Singin’ this’ll be the night USC cries,
This’ll be the night USC cries.
How do you omit - "Drinking beer w/eff'ed up friends!"

It’s silly to think we should rest a starter against a predicted tournament team on the road because “we should beat them regardless”
