Let’s get the spread predictions going before the line pops out later tonight... I’ll say Wisco -10.5.

Does anyone know if there is an Illini group in the Raleigh area that gets together to watch the games?

Oh, and it's good to see so many jumping on my early season optimism for this team.

Had to sit in the Madison airport yesterday before flying to SFO, so I upped my protein powder in my shake and proceeded to give the airport a thorough crop dusting.
“Boy the cheese sure stinks here. You smell that?”

I would hope that Andy, Barney, Aunt Bea et all are there in spirit at Happy Lunch in Mount Airy (Mayberry) for a chili-sized burger. After all, Mayberry Union High's colors are orange and blue! And I've got a pennant to prove it! (But the colors are more Florida than Illinois). GO ILLINI! Gomer says "hey!" to you and yours.

I really want this one, but if we get Borowski and his crew, we are in trouble, just give us a chance to compete w/o the usual Kohl nonsense

Dre Feliz deserves a lot more love from this board. Don't leave his name off of any more posts listing the reasons for the turnaround. He's near the top of that list.

Definitely. It's interesting comparing Feliz this year and Lucas last year. Almost the same exact season IMO. Both players had a rough first half of the season. Turned the ball over too much, fouled too much, seemed out of control, to the point that their minutes started to go down. Last year something clicked for Lucas and he started playing really well towards the end of the season. To the point where BU couldn't afford to take him out of the game. Feliz has started to play like that the past couple weeks as well.

I'll say what I did last week. Don't think we'll win, and that's ridiculous. It's been over 2 weeks since Wisconsin figured out to score 60 points, they aren't going to to blow it open on us.

Agreed, that's a silly line. Vegas, shut up and take my money.

That Is a great article on Andre Feliz!! The man has his priorities straight! I love the success and drive he’s brought to this team!

Do I think the spread seems a little high? Sure. But I said it before and I’m going to say it again... Wisconsin will have had six days to fix things up coming off two losses. That’s extremely valuable time. We are going to see their best basketball and I’m excited for our young guys to take on that challenge in a difficult atmosphere.

Well that's not a very long memory:

1/5/18 Rutgers 64 Wisconsin 60
1/9/18 Nebraska 63 Wisconsin 59
1/16/18 Purdue 78 Wisconsin 50
1/19/18 Wisconsin 75 Illinois 50

I just want to say (so I'm going to) that we're going to hear a lot about this team "winning ugly." Uh, that's our style. Creating havoc, chasing down the ball on the floor, breaking up their plays, Feliz perfected evil eye, Trent's appearing out of nowhere. I could go on. But like the man says, no one can duplicate this in practice, especially not the practice squad.

I’ve had faith this team would turn the corner to finish the season. I also think we can win 5 of the next 6. Just not this one. Wisconsin game play is the kryptonite to Underwood’s offense. I hope I’m wrong, but I expect a very low scoring game with lots of offensive rebounds

O/U is 135.5, our lowest of the year. First team to 70 wins.:)

Just an observation on my part.

In the first game, WI did not play bad, we made them play badly.

I think, of course assuming we play well, we will make them look even worse. And, we are playing FAR better than when we met them a couple of weeks ago.

In the first game, we lost at the tail end when we did not shoot well.

I think we have a better chance at Purdue. Wisky has already seen the improved Illini defense, and has had six days to prepare. If the Illini win this, my God they can beat anybody.

The battles among guards Ayo Dosunmu, Andres Feliz, Trent Frazier and Da’Monte Williams are intense. They go at each other every day. Those experiences are part of the reason the Fighting Illini (10-15, 6-8) have an improved defense and are riding a four-game winning streak into No. 20 Wisconsin (17-8, 9-5) at 7 p.m. Monday.

Since Jan. 1, the Illini have improved 47 spots in the KenPom efficiency rankings, going from 113th on Jan. 1 to 66th — the biggest leap of any team in the six major conferences.

“Me, Trent and Dre, we try to tell each other that whatever guard we’re playing against, we’re trying to make their night hell because we have so many different rotations we can bring in defensively in different ways,” Dosunmu said.

It’s a three-headed monster that, when combined with Williams’ intense defense, is a major concern for opposing teams. Ohio State’s Andre Wesson said after the game: “We weren’t prepared for how hard they play.”

_____________________________________________________________________

The Illini are a vastly different team since playing wisky before....The example of them having 6 days to prepare for us is negated by not being able to duplicate our intensity on defense and we have had great games on O from many Illini that has me sticking to my prediction...

Per usual, as game time approaches “what is supposed to happen” matters less and gives way to the emotional high we’re on ... it’s about damn time we beat Wisconsin.

This is the game that will absolutely prove BU's coaching acumen. Was not surprised by the win at OSU as I think we are a better team. Whisky however, has owned us and don't have more talent but have a lot more experience. Will be surprised and elated by a win there or at PU. A win either place is huge but two wins will make up for the miserable start to this season and last. Time for "We will win".
