OTOH I think we can beat WI without him if we get effort like we saw today.

I agree - but we will need to shoot better from the arc. I am concerned that the three percentage was due to losing our legs - too many games in too short a time frame.

Agreed. Even having Ayo as a shell of himself (as far as scoring goes) goes a long way to helping with our energy tomorrow. His shot might be a bit off with a mask and he might be a bit gun-shy driving, but he's still an elite enough dribbler to make stuff happen, and it takes a lot of pressure off of our shooters. I think you're right, though, that our shooting will determine if we come away with a win in Madison. If Miller can have another step-up game and Trent can find his stroke, we got this. We are more than capable enough of beating them, even without Ayo. However, having him in the game - regardless of how "back" he is to being the Ayo we rely on - makes a world of difference in achieving that goal, IMO.

IMO tired legs reflects itself on the defensive end, not offense. If we were really tired you would see a bad defensive effort. That was not the case yesterday.

I don't know why, and it's not in my character generally, but I'm feeling pretty copacetic about things. Maybe this Ayo injury has put things in perspective. I think the team learns some things about itself over the next 3 games, no matter the result or whether Ayo plays. I think with the 1-seed being a heavy lift, getting mentally ready for the tournament is objective #1 and I like to think this will help. Honestly, if we lose out and drop from 2 to 3 seed, it's not that bad. The main draw of getting the 1 seed was to avoid Gonzaga and Baylor for as long as possible. If we can't do that, I don't think a 3 seed is honestly that much worse. And I think that's probably what we're looking at if we lose the next 3. So be it.

That being said if it turns out Ayo is out for the tournament I will be apoplectic.

Fair enough, good point. I was impressed with our defense yesterday, and it was nice to see us pull away from a team while not shooting lights out or anything. Yesterday's performance is the type of game you need in your repertoire when you show up for your Second Round matchup vs. a 7/10 seed and you are a tad off your game. I don't want to be like Iowa, where you can beat anyone if the shots are falling and you can also lose in the Second Round to a clearly inferior team. It was nice to see us simply outplay and outlast an opponent without relying on an elite offensive performance!

The almighty BTT Bracket Generator has made its return, and I was playing around with it. I predicted the other remaining games a tad differently than the website did, with the exceptions below:

- Minnesota losing at Nebraska (that ship is sinking!)
- Michigan State winning at Maryland (the hackers are on a roll)
- Minnesota beating Rutgers at home (they're kind of schizo)

Given those predictions (which you can obviously change if you mess around with the site), these are our possible BTT draws based on how we finish the season.

0-3: #4 seed playing the winner of #5 Iowa and #12 Penn State/#13 Northwestern

1-2 (beat WISC): #3 seed playing the winner of #6 Wisconsin and #11 Indiana/#14 Nebraska
1-2 (beat MICH): #3 seed playing the winner of #6 Wisconsin and #11 Indiana/#14 Nebraska
1-2 (beat OSU): #2 seed playing the winner of #7 Rutgers and #10 Minnesota

2-1 (beat WISC and OSU): #2 seed playing the winner of #7 Maryland and #10 Minnesota
2-1 (beat MICH and OSU): #2 seed playing the winner of #7 Rutgers and #10 Minnesota

3-0: #2 seed playing the winner of #7 Maryland and #10 Minnesota

So, assuming that even with Ayo the games at Michigan and at OSU will be the most difficult, it would be HUGE to grab a win on Saturday and avoid a first-game matchup with Iowa in the BTT. We can't be the 1-seed unless we beat Michigan and MSU sweeps them, I think.

I think our tough-but-achievable goal should be the 2-seed in the BTT and hopefully a BTT performance that earns us a 1-seed in the NCAAs. I obviously want Ayo to only come back when a doctor really thinks he can, but assuming he's cleared ... it might be better for him to play vs. Wisconsin and iron out the awkward kinks of wearing a mask rather than have his first game back be against Michigan. Again, this is a "best case" scenario. Remember that Maryland guy who played like crap his first game in a mask but then torched us in his second game wearing it? Lol.
You should repost this in the BTT thread. Well written

I mean, I get it, BU is seeing these guys and answering the same questions over and over again and they don't know s&%t, but is it me or is he getting a bit more testy with the media overall? I don't remember hearing any of this during his first 3 years when they were losing.

He’s just generally pissed off right now, for good reason.

And I think some of the testiness is because he can’t answer some of the questions as he would like. And those are often the questions being asked multiple times in different ways.

Going from copacetic to apoplectic can be quite problematic.

Robert also reporting that BU hasn't been sleeping very much these days. Hope he can get a nap in today.
Kudos to the media for not painting this in some narrative. Brad is always forthright with media and his transparency makes it easier for us fans to know what's going on. Some coaches don't share anything at all (e.g. Lovie).

He wears his emotions on his sleeve, and I appreciate that. He's dealing with a lot right now, and I'm glad we have him as our leader

Seems like beat buckeyes = 2 seed, no?

Let’s not forget, he says he hasn’t been sleeping much lately too. I’m sure he’s a pretty tightly wound right now. Let’s cut the man some slack. He’s been through hell this week, and quite frankly, all season. I’m sure it’s all a little overwhelming with what’s ahead of him the next month.

God Bless Coach BU!!

Coach actually said as much when McColley asked Coach how he was doing in the presser. Coach said he didn't sleep AT ALL after the Mich St game. And he said he wouldn't sleep much before the WI game because it was so close and preparations. That is around the time he spoke about the scheduling and how we only have 30 hours to prep for WI.

I don’t think so. He’s more testy at the situation then at the media. He obviously doesn’t like the schedule and he’s almost having the exact same media session he had last night.
