Until proven otherwise, I’m gonna assume this one will also be a track meet and it’ll come down to making a couple of stops late. I wish I could just watch us as a neutral, instead of someone who is way too invested in the outcome. I’m sure our games are a ton of fun for them, rather than totally nerve-racking.

Is it possible that this team is just too nice? Feel like this team is too predictable on defense and doesn’t scare people.

How to stop a jump shooter…make them fear landing akwardly, their arm being smacked hard or a hand on their face. Shooting is about rhythm disrupt the rhythm.

Just look at what teams do to Domask…black eyes, elbows to the head lots of hard fouls.

Don’t need to be dirty but maybe a bit edgy.

It’ll be 5 on 8 but they’ll need it to slow this offense down

It's kind of a silly way to say it, but I really do think there's something to that.

We have no physicality on defense. Both at the rim but also on the perimeter.

We count on our individuals to be able to contest shots without fouling, but it just leads to the opponent running exactly what they want, on their schedule, every time down the floor. This is major college basketball, guys are going to make those contested shots.

Make them fear landing awkwardly? Smacked hard on the hand? Ultimately, that will result in beating us like a drum from the foul line and having players in foul trouble.

I don't think that you mean edgy, you mean physical, which is fine. That said, when you play like we do, in constant transition...it's hard to be physical. We also don't have any physically imposing players on our roster. It's hard to be a 6"10, wanting to player on the perimeter, then acting like a tough guy. Domask, if he gets too much into a player, with his lack of quickness, will get blown by.

We don't have issues with our physical mentality. We have issues with a lack of foot speed on the perimeter, allowing guards to break us down, get into the paint and have a ton of options. If we double, you'll have open shooters, lobs, etc getting open looks, if we don't double we're letting up layups or open 15 footers and if we do play off, we really don't have a guy that can hold his own in the paint(perhaps DD?).

We don't let up 80 points, consistently, because we have a ton of answers and to me....it starts with our guards. Unless it's Shannon, our ability to shut down other team's guards is miserable, which is why we get questions like..."why do guys always have career days against us?". See above.

We’ve very quietly won 7 of 9 with our only losses being at MSU where we held an 8 point lead late and a freak late collapse at PSU where we were up 7 with the ball in the last minute.

Maybe not the toughest schedule but we are just a couple of bounces from a 9 game winning streak. Maybe we are playing our best ball right now. If we go 2-1 down the stretch that would put us at 6-6 in Q1, and I would have to think we would be pushing the 3 line. Let’s see if we can do it.

This would be the most shocking conference win since, I don't know. . . Didn't we win in E. Lansing Ayo's Freshman year, or something? We were bad then, and supposedly good now, but that defense. . . (On the other hand, that offense. . . )
Who the hell knows.

Or maybe since the 30-point blowout at Michigan a few years ago.

I have no idea what to think about this defense. Truly doesn’t feel like we’re playing that bad, just that the other teams making shots. Every single mistake we make seems to be taken advantage of every single time. Interior defense has been bad, but that’s been the case all year.

I’d love to see Wahl and Crowl contained down low, would be great for Coleman to be at the 4 as much as possible. Just don’t think Quincy’s got it against larger opponents.

Jay Bilas mentioned the Illini (and USF) on a podcast this week when asked about teams hitting their stride right now that could make some noise in March

How many times do we have to say that AJ is the one who chose not to come here lol
This can be deleted if it's been hashed and rehashed: but anyone have a one sentence answer as to why he didn't come here? NIL? Just one of those things with 18-year-olds?

Beginning to see more of CH and Dain in the lineup together....which I believe is a good thing...moves CH out of the post on defense....and gives us a post presence on the offensive end....and to be hones Dain's got some pretty decent post moves and can score down low with some efficiency .....Dain should have a big game in Madison

Prediction: Wahl & Crowl are going to get theirs in the paint. Defensively I like Ty & Harmon vs. Hepburn & Blackwell, especially if Harmon is playing that kind of fiery defense we saw against Minny. TJ on Storr...TJ is a bad matchup for Storr and is going to slow him down, which will be the difference in this game. If Quincy can take a page out of Harmon's book and play with fire defensively and challenge Wahl, we'll have a really nice showing Saturday. Brad gets a win & makes history

Anybody going to the game? Wife and I are going to recreate a mini-version of the Vegas trip, Illinois game followed by Ho-Chunk. :D 33rd wedding anniversary Saturday.

We're thinking of wearing blue rather than orange to better stand out against the red.
