Then we win out to finish 5-7 and miss bowl eligibility. Our players truly learn the detriment of stupid penalties (see the end of the Purdue game), and how that alone is what cost us a bowl game. That being said, I think they've already learned. Penalties have really cleaned up in recent play:chief:

I'd be elated if we finished 5-7. That would mean our most B1G wins in a season since...2007? Doubt it happens, though.

Just to be clear, we could still make a bowl at 5-7, like Nebraska last year. And our APR is good enough that this is a distinct possibility :)

George (I'm assuming he's still our starter) has shown some improvement, but similar to the Michigan game, this is a really tough D on the road. Run game and D-line have to be spectacular to keep us in the game.

You know, I re-watched the MSU game and George really was making some strong throws. He just missed on a couple of long plays that were touchdowns. Had he hit one or more of those, look out. 9 out of 10 times, Wisky will beat us in this game handily but I give George some credit. His biggest problem is his inexperience.

As a side note I have to once again compliment McGee on his play calling. Very well done mixing it up and moving the ball all over the field. I think we kept them guessing quite a bit last week.

George's biggest problem is that he likes to lock in on one receiver before the play even starts and seemingly refuses to throw to anyone but that receiver even if they are well covered. If he can fix that he'll be very serviceable.

He also has a tendency to throw off his back foot too often. I believe that is why his balls tend to sail on him and make him susceptible to interception. I think he needs to correct that as well but I do think he can fix it, although Cutler still has that issue too often.

Let's not kid ourselves... Lunt still does this.

I actually can't believe there is still a question about who to start at QB the rest of the year. I mean, thanks for what you brought us, Wes (I guess?), but unfortunately, you're old news. Lovie owes him nothing, and JG Jr. will be back next year (even if not a starter).

Let's not forget that Wisconsin lost at Michigan 14-7 and lost at home to the Buckeyes in OT. This is the 2nd best team we are going to play this season. However, the coaching staff has this team playing better, smarter football. Would love to see us keep this game as close as possible for as long as possible. Is Malik playing? If so, then perhaps JG Jr. can complete enough passes to open up the run game and avoid three and outs.

I do like how physical our Defense has become. Green and Nelson can lay the wood and it's seemingly become contagious.

I'll predict 27 - 10 Wisconsin. The Badgers have an elite defense I just don't see our offense moving the ball enough to help our defense. But you never know!!!

Wisconsin's offense is nothing special. They've put up pretty similar numbers to our offense. However, their defense is one of the best. If we can muster 2-3 touchdowns, we might have a shot. That'll be a lot harder than it sounds though. Having Lunt here would be huge. Is there any chance he returns?

Heading up to Madison with some friends tomorrow for this one. My Wisconsin friends are saying it's a trap game for them, so hopefully we can take advantage of that.

I would predict something like 20-6, 24-10, something in that range.

I think our defense has some good things going on and may get us some good field position a couple times. But our offense against their defense just won't be able to do anything without some big plays. If JG Jr can get his throws down and Kendrick can break free, then mayyyybe we can squeeze this one out.

Either way, been loving the gradual improvement in execution the last several weeks and I'll be happy with more of that.

Anyway, I'm calling the upset, based on nothing but a hope and a prayer. Well, and on some improvement and the fact that Wisconsin hasn't really been dominant on offense. Illinois wins the turnover battle and the game.

I think it's a case of a solid, well-coached national program vs. a bottom 10 Power Five team, the latter of which is in year #1 of a major turnaround. Oh, and we're playing on the home turf of the powerhouse -- in front of a sell-out.
