2022 game got Badger coach fired. Great memory. Can we repeat?

I read somewhere that the Illini have a 35% chance of making the CFP. That seems high to me, but I like it.
3.5% sounds about right to me
That ain’t true
I think realistically, using ESPN predictions for game outcomes, there's a 1.1% chance Illinois finishes 16th. And that was picking the best case scenarios (aka: realistic outcomes) for the remaining games of the teams ahead of us.

Anything higher than 16th basically had a 0% chance of happening. Then again, you play the games, you don't roll dice to determine outcomes. So, we'll see.

Illinois can only control one thing at this point: just win.

Exactly this. Illini need to play solid football the next two weeks and get to 9-3. CFP is out of play, but a warm weather game in Tampa and a chance for back to back double digit win seasons is a great consolation.

Moreso than any other game this season, it certainly smells like a Vegas trap. And I'm going to fall for it. Distinct coaching advantage for the good guys!

24 ILL
14 WISC

Illini win and we cover the 7.5.

Luke does not turn the ball over, but I'm thinking our RB's are due for at least 1 fumble this game in the cold night air against a strong Wisconsin defense, which might make our Illini viewing audience a little nervous in the first half. Lunney may have to reach deeper into his bag of tricks at a strategic moment or two in the game. (8-2 predicting the winner; 4-6 against the spread.) Will miss this one due to a wedding. Root us on to victory without me! #17 in the next CFP rankings awaits us.

I hope we pay attention to detail, such as a lineman eligible who didn't bother to report it to the referee.

Here's to a resounding Illinois victory. May we score a touchdown on all our possessions in the first half.

Why are we settling for only in the first half?! Points on every possession!

I will settle for a field goal or 2 in the second half, and TDs on every other possession. As you say, points on every possession.

We've seen this game in reverse in Champaign more than a few times since the mid 90's. Time to do to them what they used to do to us. Beat an inferior team into the ground. Jump em early & they most likely pack it in. Dick around & they will hang around for 60 minutes.

ugh, I still have nightmares of playing them up there about 6-7 years ago and us making Graham Mertz look like the second coming of Peyton Manning.
Dude was like 12 for 13 in the first half with 200 yards

Good observation but I prefer this (alphabetized) ranking. View attachment 45151
With respect to Wisconsin and Illinois.............

While acknowledging that we now have 18 teams rather than 10 in the conference, this version of the Big Ten standings much more closely resembles the one etched in my mind from my young and formative years back in the 1980's. (I just hope this cycle lasts 25-30 years, at a minimum! And of course we need for the top 5 names to become interchangeable. With a win Saturday night, we should be able to hold down 4th place, based upon OVERALL RECOrD.)
