Groupthink has taken over this message board. Very sad.

I think saying we suck is obviously a step to far, but do we seem good? We are 5-6 in our last 11 with one of those wins against an awful Minnesota team. We got beat by double digits in 3 of those(and by 9 in another). Even good wins in there had large parts of the games where we looked terrible(UCLA & Ohio State). We have a guy who started up until a week or so ago that is now getting zero minutes...but now will be right back in the rotation because of injuries. We have another guy who has been a consistent energy guy, worked his way up to starter, got sick/benched and down to 3 minutes last game even healthy in a game we sure could have used a spark in. Our best rebounder and hustle player is out indefinitely. Oh, and let's not forget 3 points shot taken vs shots made. And the insistence on the staff to encourage it. Must just be a social contagion to be bothered by all this?

It's not groupthink to notice a train wreck.

Its not too late to fix it...we have the talent, but let's not pretend things are going great, good, or even ok right now.

Pretty accurate, but actually Tre stole Brads car and took Mrs Underwood Christmas shopping in St Louis with BUs credit cards.

Then returned the car with only a quarter tank of gas.
Rumor has it they purchased two laying hens plus a couple dozen eggs with the credit cards

I’d like to keep the winning streak in Madison and against Wisky overall going, but I don’t have a good feeling about this one. 😬

I still say in fairness to Brad and team we brought in a bunch of shooters. We should be better than 17th in 3pt %. We definitely chucked a lot of bad shots in the last 8 minutes vs Sparty but overall I still think our shot quality is pretty good. No worse than Wisconsin really. And if our 3 pt % flipped between us and Wisconsin flipped pretty sure our records would flip too.

The injuries/illnesses haven’t helped either and have come at the worst possible times. I don’t think we really have anyone to stop Flagg anyway but Morez was easily our best shot so of course we lose him the week before we play. Tre vs Rutgers. Tomi vs Maryland. Just been snakebit this year.

Your dislike for Ben seems to be well documented, but his 3 pt shooting is well above average for this team. The one aspect of his game that is ripe for questioning is his FT shooting at 65%.

And let me guess, you were not a math major? 😉

Absolutely laughable post. 1st of all, we're a terrible 3 point shooting team if you haven't noticed, so Ben being above average for our team isn't saying much. With that said, he's shooting 34% from 3 and our team average is 31% (yuck) so not like he's "well above average" as you're intimating.

Second of all, Ben is shooting 34% on 6 (!) attempts per game. If you satisfied with that.....maybe you're secretly an assistant coach for us!

Is this an Otter and Mrs. Wormer reference?

I'm feeling this is a broken team.
We might win at Iowa. The rest? Unlikely.

I hope that I am wrong.

It’s not good, but we just need to limp into the NCAAT. Beat Iowa at home and steal one other game. Then win one in the B1G tourney and I think we safely make it. Maybe Morez is able to come back for the NCAAT and we have a shot at winning a game or two.

The way Morez broke his wrist….I’m so proud that young man wears an Illinois uniform. No way anyone should give up on this team with effort like that. We owe it to them even if we’re disappointed.
The Illini do not need three more wins to be safely in the field. Just beating Iowa would likely be enough to get the Illini an 8 or 9 seed, which by definition should be fairly safely in the field. If the Illini do get three more wins, then the Illini are way more than safely in the field (likely about a 6 or 7 seed). The stark reality is that the Illini have played a very difficult schedule, and while at times seemed to have underperformed, they have a very solid resume compared to peers that are on the bubble.

Heck, let's just steal one tonight and put to bed all the "if the Illini are even able to make the tournament" talk we have heard the last few days. A win tonight, and the Illini are a virtual lock for the tournament. A real testament to the schedule the Illini played this year.

Not for Brad 😄 He's made the Kohl center SFC North. 5 straight if memory serves! But I think that streak ends tonight...there's just too much going against us right now. But if we pull off a W tonight it would be nothing short of hilarious.
Actually, it would be unsurprising given the team's cyclical performance this season!

Gard's an excellent coach and he's got Wisconsin playing well. Without Rez we need a really healthy Tomi and a clean-slate Ben. Otherwise, it might get ugly. Am hoping the Badgers spent it all in WL on Saturday.
