Do not think this will impact this team a bit

Irrespective, IL will win by 15 tomorrow

Is it even possible at this point for him to sit out the rest of the year and come back next year? I'm assuming no.
Someone posted redshirt rules being 30% of the schedule. Hutch has played in 4 games, which is barely above the 30% in the 9 games we have played. So he is well on pace to redshirt.

Coach’s tone didn’t seem very optimistic either on a timeline for him.

I am currently leaning towards we will see Belo before we see Hutch.

Yes, as long as he has played in fewer than 30% of scheduled games. That's the NCAA rule. Now, he might run up against a limit on number of years in school. Does last year count? Was he a student last year? NCAA can offer 2 red shirt years if caused by injury. Then there is the "free covid year" thing. Probably academic if he isn't able to play this year. I can't see the school using a scholarship on him again.

The only fair barometer we have against Arizona is that we BOTH played URTRGVG at home.

Arizona 104- 50
ILL-94-85

Now given we had out Trent, Grandison and Curbelo for that game and they played them about 2 weeks earlier into the season but..... Idk where i'm going with this point anymore. This exercise helping anyone else?

This is the very essence of a toss up. Home court gives us the slight advantage. Rebound, defense, and we can scratch this one out just like Iowa.

Yes helping... in the "helping make me worried" category....

But within a week.. we did beat by 30 team that beat the #1 team in the country....

Does this help anyone...?

Buckle up, close game all the way through. There will runs of course but we nail it down with FT's and win by 5

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Many college basketball teams simply aren’t physically equipped to combat 7-foot, 285-pound University of Illinois center Kofi Cockburn.
Arizona does not appear to fall into that category.
The undefeated and 11th-ranked Wildcats will arrive at State Farm Center for Saturday’s 4 p.m. nationally televised (Fox) nonconference game with plenty of size of their own.
“They throw a lot of size at you,” Illinois coach Brad Underwood said Friday. “Kofi’s got to be Kofi. But it’s more about other guys understanding opportunities. Kofi’s got to be a big boy and play big boy basketball and not let the double team bother him. He has to take his opportunities when they’re there.”

“We’re getting better. The biggest thing is we’re actually becoming a team,” senior guard Trent Frazier said. “We’re coming more together. Early season, we weren’t tight. We’ve made huge strides in that area. We’re having fun and we’re smiling every day.”

The Illini still cannot smile, however, about having a completely healthy roster.

Underwood said point guard Andre Curbelo remains sidelined but “is getting much better. I don’t plan on bringing him back until he can be everything I expect him to be.”

Go Illini !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever had a tail bone injury? I couldn’t sit or hardly walk for a month and a half with mine. And that was just a bruise. You hit it on anything again and it’s painful. Was still painful at times a yr later.
I haven’t. It was an honest question

Last i saw an hour ago illinois favored by 2 pts. Just watched UA vs OSU which I taped. osu is bad, 1-8 now. Nothing about UA was scarry. They have length. and play like Gonzaga, finesse. Not big ten ready. Not top tier big ten from that sample. In that game, Iowa played much faster than UA did vs OSU.
Edit: Looking at the true road games UA has played, it has been half full arenas, 4,000 to 5,300.
Not Big Ten ready? Ask Michigan if they agree.

#1 - a sad situation unfolding downstate and northern Kentucky. My heart goes out to all those folks 😢

#2 - here’s to hoping the wrench mother nature threw in Arizona’s gears knocks them off kilter just enough

hoping it doesn't have the Michigan effect from the Groce era when they smoked us in their practice jerseys after their initial flight slid off the runway.
Would definitely be a huge win if we can beat them without Curbelo.

if we get Koloko some foul trouble early that would be very good for us. For some reason I feel like that depends more on the refs then our boys

We also need Omar Payne to not be a total negative in whatever rest minutes he gives Kofi… not optimistic about that one.

Payne could be important. Arizona’s backup center is putting up the type of numbers I think we were hoping for from Payne — 13.6 mpg, 6.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, and 1 bpg. Payne has to be able to play some productive minutes to give Kofi some rest.

I suspect this game will be extremely close throughout with each team making 6-10pt runs at various times....I will give the Illini the edge because of the home court and crowd advantage...but I think more importantly this game may give us an idea of how the season will unfold....we will have multiple games (Purdue, Michigan, MSU, OSU, and really any B10 road game) that will be very comparable to this. How do we handle defensive pressure...how do we handle the size and quickness that Zona will throw at us....what line up rotations will we see....do the Freshmen get many minutes....this is clearly the best team we've played to this point in the season...so I'm more interested in seeing just how we play and handle this situation, win or lose

If the snows really bad maybe someone in the stands can come down and referee, like Charlie Due did that one time.
