BIG+, eh?
Looks like my ear will be glued to the radio.
While my eyes are glued to the Minny-Oregon game.

I am seeing a flood of ADs on TV promoting online sports gambling, and the FBI has already announced arrests of NBA and MLB players/coaches in mob related gambling schemes. Today they announced arrests in New Jersey involving some Rutgers wrestlers and mafia ringleaders.
I fear online gambling is leading us down the path of damaging the integrity of NCAA as well as pro sports.

Figured the folks on this board might enjoy big18basketball.com.

One of my friends put it together and plans to keep it updated throughout the season.

I am sure there are 100 posters here that can answer this question immediately...but lacking that I will provide an answer. Since Ty has already taken a redshirt year, he cannot take another. Therefore, if he does not play this year, it is lost. Not sure if he could get a medical exemption for another year as it seems that can only be done by submitting the request after he runs out of eligibility and/or graduates. He has another season to play before that can be done. That is the best I can surmise from all information provided previously. You could try Google with various constructions of the question.
Getting an additional year of eligibility for a medical redshirt after already taking a redshirt year is pretty much standard sign-off from the NCAA. If Ty were out for the season I would give a near 0% chance he wouldn't be granted an additional year of eligibility. He is recovering from a major injury, if he misses the season, it's in both his and the school's best interest to say he couldn't play due to injury and HIPAA restricts any information about player health status from being shared.

Also, there is precedence of additional years of eligibility being allowed past 4+1, due to medical redshirt. Even if the NCAA were to not give the extra year of eligibility, they would not have a leg to stand on legally and the courts would quickly overturn it.

So long story short, if Ty were to be out the full year, he would absolutely be granted an additional year of eligibility regardless of his prior redshirt. The bigger question is going to be that if it takes until February for Ty to get to the point where he might be able to play reduced minutes if he pushes it, would that even be worth it for him, the team, etc. Even if you are technically medically cleared to play in minimum time after surgical repair, it generally takes longer to get back to your athletic level. It'd be really tough to give up an extra year of eligibility and an extra year of NIL for that, unless you really think you have a shot at a natty and are already starting to want to move on from college. Tough decision

Are their bars in Chicagoland or suburbs that will have the game on tonight?
The best chance i would say is Budweiser Brickhouse Tavern in Wrigleyville. Prides themselves as Champaign North, You can also sign up for one month of Big Ten+(10 bucks). Then watch it on your laptop or cast it to a television which is what I do. This is what a bar will be doing as it is not on any other network.

Finley Dunnes about a mile west is also an option. Much more fun neighborhood vibes too if that’s your thing.

If I post this observation in the TT post game at this point, likely no one will see it. So I post it here so it might get more attention.

Several have mentioned that D. Mirkovic did not play one of his best games against TT, but IMHO, that is far from the truth. He had a handful of buckets in the paint where he showed patience, determination, effort, great skill, and a high IQ to finish with a tough bucket....and made an 11 pt. offensive contribution while not hitting a single shot from the arc. Of the virtues mentioned above. his patience for a frosh in his first experience with a big time challenge, his patience stood out most to me. He was in no hurry and fortunately has the size, handle, and plan to finish with a very high efficiency bucket...tough buckets at the rim that make a huge impact when needed. The kid is special. When he becomes more confident in what to do and when to do it while avoiding getting out of control due to lack of plan, he is easily a B1G warrior and star. Morez was a loss, but replacing him with Mirk was a big lift to the ceiling of this Illini team.

I am anxiously awaiting the match-up with Cheatigan where we will likely see Morez guarding him quite often. That will be a huge challenge to his patience and judgement as Morez will for certain challenge Mirk's offensive and rebounding skills. But if he lets the game come to him and does all the little things without playing hero ball, he will be fine. We will find out. Meanwhile, I will enjoy watching this young man learn and grow and become a very dependable cog in this Illini juggernaut.

I absolutely cannot wait for this game tonight. Of course, I can't actually watch it, so what I am really excited about is the end of the tooth puns.
I’ll get it started a little early…I’m expecting the Illini to be crowned the winners tonight

Really hope to see petrovic play at pg tonight
Yeah me too. Big time. And I urge all who watch the game not to rush to judgment re: his defense. Like all aspects of his game, tonight will be essentially a test run.

I know every team gets at least one B1G+ game to drive subscriptions, but Colgate seems a little too high an opponent in the scheme of buy games to place on the service.

Can you sign up for Big Ten Plus then cancel after the game? Is there some sort of trial?

He was 1-5 from three, I believe, but I otherwise agree with you.

I feel like he may have benefited from playing smaller, less physical teams those first couple games.

It seemed like Monday night was more physical and he got frustrated a few times that he wasn’t able to play like he has. His body language and expression sometimes looked like (in real time) he realized he was playing a different game. I have no doubts he won’t adapt to more physical competition and the staff will continue to develop his game and refine his talents.

I think he’s the prototypical X-Factor.
