It's simple, not complex to understand. You've seen Kansas play, correct? That's how West Virginia plays. They are like a clone of Kansas. Hence, they are the Kansas of the east.

Not sure I would agree with that. WV plays a much more intense level of pressure trying to create turnovers. If you can survive that pressure, their FG% defense isn't all that great. KU is more focused on the latter, making it tough to get quality shots, but they aren't trying to turn you over.

They'll be Illinois' strongest opponent in the non-con. A win against them would be huge for Groce and the program.

Most likely, yes.

Let it be known that this will be game 2 of 3 before the Illini play West Virginia. Illinois will have played 3 games during this period and WV will have played 1 before the matchup. Go Illini!

Gonna be a big test. KenPom projects them about 9 points better than us, on par with MSU and tOSU. There are only 3 BIG teams better than that, Wiscy, Indiana, and Purdue. Beating WV would be a great sign that we can be competitive.

Let's just win this game without a lot of drama and then get Black back out there to hopefully help improve our defense and rebounding.

If you had said "WVU plays just like Kansas", that would have made sense. Saying they are the Kansas of the east didn't have any meaning to me. Who cares though? Thanks for clarifying:)

Wouldn't count on that win. Huggie has completely transformed that team in the past few years. They muck it up and play 35 seconds of hell type D. It's gonna be tough for the Illini.

I'd like to be another person who points out Kansas and West Virginia do NOT play similarly. Nobody plays like West Virginia. Not even Shaka's VCU teams

Patronization is a deserved art form.

KenPom doesn't mean a whole lot this time of year.

Maybe this is where all of our seniors lead the way.

Meh, you can make that comment all day, but throwing stones at it doesn't change the fact that the line is going to be very close to his differential. Vegas lines may be subjective too, but they're pretty good at what they do. Kenpom is similar. And yes, of course they both do better as they get more info, but they're still just a prediction.

It's been close in the past couple Illini games but it's not that accurate if you look at all of the game so far this season for all of the other teams. It's sheer luck that it's been that accurate for Illinois so far.

IF he gets real minutes... I get the feeling he wont play more than about 5 minutes. Groce seems more confident in Tate defensively and sadly I'd ahve to agree.

Tate's a senior and TJL is just starting his career. That said, I agree that if Groce needs to trade offense for defense and experience, he'll go with Tate.

Is there a composite that measures his accuracy or are you just parsing individual scores?

Best things about this game is that it should result in more pt for players 7-11 and that Black is back after it's over.

Soft spot in my heart for Detroit Mercy since they were the only D1 school to offer me a scholly back in the day... Ok enough reminiscing about when I was in shape :D

Detroit is #269 in KenPom and lost by 30 to E Tenn St. Need to build on the progress we showed against McKendree and spank this team.

ILL - 84
UDM - 62

I expect magic tonight. 95-65. Thorne finally shoots well and get some of blocks reminiscent of Egwu.

It'll be raining threes again: 113-69. Another garbage time failure will prevent us from cracking 120.
