It is good we are complaining.

It is also good we are a better team than last year.

Now, only if we could figure out these injuries. And, depth, to cover for the injuries.
Looking at the defensive alone, imagine all these players healthy and still here: Hobbs and Beason at corners, then Adams and Bennett Williams at safety. Along with Bobby and Betiku on the D-line. Offensively? Epstein, Corbin shaken up. Luke ford not getting the waiver, Jeff Thomas and Miller from OU were supposed to come. (Dudek past few years as well) I still hope and expect for a bowl this season, but the staff planned ahead with talent at those positions before injuries and unforeseen circumstances occurred. This is an overlooked point and imagine the Illini now plus those players. Definitely a competitor for the West division this year IMO. This team has had a fair amount of talent taken away yet we still look to have a good amount of potential and hopefully further improvement throughout the season, secondary is going to be the test all season because of depth, and hopefully Reggie gets back healthy and puts up numbers like last year

I could see us going to a real good ticket promotion to combat the mass of red.

Maybe this game works like the Wisconsin game during the Rose bowl season.
They already did a labor day sale right after we beat Akron. $10 Horseshoe tickets. I jumped on it

Pessimistic counter point: The coaching and play calling needs to improve. Zook had amazing players, too...

Illini 20-17. A close win, maybe. EMU worries me.

We are bigger, faster, and stronger while playing at home. Illini: 38 EMU: 14..... Hot Take: Baker with 2 TD catches

Curious to see how much we can chalk up to road woes. Certainly not trying to say they should account for such a close win to UConn, but if we go out and keep EMU at bay, I think I can at least convince myself playing away might have had a bigger influence than it seemed.

Didn't realize Kentucky's starting QB went down in the 3rd quarter. Maybe that's why EMU was able to stick around a little bit in that game.

I think the Illini show their stuff in this game against EMU. I was not surprised that the Illini hit a little bump in the road last week. I also believe Connecticut played their best game in years hoping to upset a B1g team. I was not happy with the pick six, but I expected it to happen soon since Peters was staring down receivers against Akron, but no bad things happened in that game, it was just a matter of time. The good news is that most of the mistakes are correctable. With the defense only giving up one touchdown in two games, including a road game, we should feel pretty good about this team. Are the Illini a great all time team this year, no, but they can step up against Eastern Kentucky who just got throttled by a Kentucky team who is not as good as the Illini. The comeback by the Illini was very good to see and shows that this team doesn't hang its head and lose. They became the fighting illini on Saturday, and not the lie down illini as Dee Brown used to say. My predicted score in the next game is 38-16 with the Illini going into Big Ten conference play against Nebby undefeated and emerging 4-0. I do not think the Nebraska squad can stop the illini offense. I believe the illini defense is much improved and will not give more than 2 touchdowns and might be similiar to UConn, on toughdown and some field goals. Lots of turnovers in this one and hopefully a pick six by Hobbs. This is an 8-4 team.
