Line has already moved down 2 points fron what I've seen. Makes sense given Mirkovic is out and LW is questionable.

I had the gallbladder surgery a month shy of my 45th birthday. They rolled me out of the OR at 4:30 pm and my first words to the nurse as I woke up rolling on the gurney was “pain.” Morphine and ice chips ensued. As a gall bladderless individual, I can confirm this assessment. Hopefully, both things allow him to heal fully. He can't rush the foot injury and come back too soon, one would presume, so this might be a blessing in some level of disguise.

Then I walked out the front door of the hospital less than two hours later. Arthroscopic surgery is miraculous. Morphine is, too.
It’s likely Mirk is back for UConn after this surgery if his foot is good. I hate to be that guy but I doubt his foot will be good.

Agree practically and philosophically. At 45 I was lifting within six weeks. He’ll heal more quickly. Without the appendectomy my assumption about the foot was that we’d have him for Braggin’ Rights, and no earlier.Illini Basketball 2026-2027
Where are our MDs to tell us how bad this is? Echoing what ‘hooray-beer’ said I had an emergency appendectomy in college. You can’t lift anything above 10-15 lbs for a week or two. So assuming he was missing that time for his foot regardless, the biggest thing will be conditioning. Still...www.illinoisloyalty.com
I think returning for the UConn game is possible from an ability perspective. But, I don't think returning for such a high level game so soon would be wise from a health and/or a season advantage/disadvantage perspective.
Mirk’s one more injury away from being this guy.
Well at least it didn't happen in practiceCan we blame the trainer?
So weird, the end of an Illini promotional video has my office
Exactly. It won't be the appendectomy that keeps him out. It's the foot. Nothing has changed with the main issue(basketball related).Literally a week recovery for that appendectomy but the foot will keep him out past UCONN is my guess.
As a selfish fan who will be at the UC, saw the Final Four loss in person last year and really wants to stop losing to UConn … REALLY hoping for the week before! Not ideal at all, but this isn't expected to have much of an impact timeline wise. Mirk is very frustrated though and will be working to get back.
Keeping hearing the target date of either the week before or after UConn.
Agreed. 100%.As a selfish fan who will be at the UC, saw the Final Four loss in person last year and really wants to stop losing to UConn … REALLY hoping for the week before!![]()
The Injury Fairy:Can confirm, only w/gallbladder. He'll be pranking teammates within a week. Good to be 20-ish when this happens as he'll heal incredibly quickly.
Also good to get it out of the way. If this is gonna happen, do we want it this weekend or in late February?
I don't intend to nitpick but what we really need is a Loyalty After Dark T-shirt.

I wonder if they should not have played Lincoln in the last exhibition game.
I had gallbladder surgery 3 months shy of my 45th birthday. A few days later I sneezed and was pretty sure that I had just killed myself. A week later I could stand up straight. Arthroscopic is a huge improvement, but read the Cleveland Clinic description, not people on here or AI.I had the gallbladder surgery a month shy of my 45th birthday. Grandpa, I know it seems like just about everything now is way worse than it used to be, but I'm pretty sure modern laparoscopic surgery isn't one of those things.![]()

The gas they used to inflate me so that the surgeon could get to everything came out way too slowly, weeks and weeks. Surgeon said that my skin was tougher than most people's. I did a lot of outside work with no shirt. Lying in bed, turn from my back to my side the air would work its way through my organs to reach my new high point. I don't know how much different the appendix surgery is, plus that was nearly 26 years ago.
Maybe without the extra weight of the appendix, that will help his foot heal faster
