I got this today--I'm sure it will rub some tailgaters the wrong way, but I've seen some tailgates taking up space where 4 or 6 cars could park. I usually arrive early enough that it isn't an issue, but I talked to a guy last week that was lot 32 that couldn't find a spot 20 minutes before kick.

That’s fair, but didn’t somebody say that our sellout (60,670) vs. UNC in 2016 only scanned 47,000 actual tickets at the gates? If that’s the case, looking at crowd photos of that game, you actually can’t really notice up to 13,000 no-shows.
If those numbers are correct, that's ~22% no-show, which is a very different problem.

And while MS may have looked full-ish on TV last week, sitting in the stadium one could see empty spots on both sides of the main, and big chunks of the East balcony.

That's because there haven't been very many... Particularly in these last 2+ decades... once in a while we catch lightning in a bottle... but it's a rare occasion. So celebrate it IF you ever see it... speaking from a 80+ year old perspective.
I was at the Howard Griffith 8 touchdownn game. That was pretty fun. And a little laughable.

Seems to be conflicting, and at the very least interesting, tea leaf readings going on.

On one hand the number of sold tickets seems to be low and resale values are low/stagnant, but on the other hand there has also been a large number of giveaway tickets for the game and there are notices about the lots being sold out.

I'm thinking the announced attendance is high, but it isn't reflected in the stadium as much. That said, I bet it looks good on the TV.

Or just do what we did when some inconsiderate bride planned her wedding in the middle of one of the Blackhawks Stanley Cup runs: watch it on your phone at the table during dinner. As long as it doesn't interrupt the speeches, shouldn't be a big deal
I was really pissed off that I missed the 2019 Illini 4Q comeback over MSU. It was my son's wedding. smh

We’ve already been to The Original Pancake House, Rally House up on Prospect to check for new Illini gear (I got my wife another Illini teddybear), checked into our hotel, where my sister (also Illini) and her “I married into this” husband will meet us shortly, and we will meet another Illinois alum for dinner.

Wow, way to rub salt into skyldub's wounds.

I'm so thankful my group of friends understands that if they plan a wedding during a major sporting event, all of our attention will be split.

My favorite wedding was during one of the Cubs few postseason runs just before they won the WS. The bride scheduled dinner to start before the game and had speeches finished so she could have the staff roll out TVs for us to watch the game. It was fantastic

Just bought tickets for the first time in years. The kids are old enough now to make the trip and enjoy it. Can anyone let me know what to expect with delivery method: Mobile Delivery - Delayed ? Does that mean they get distributed day of event?
I got the same message a couple of weeks ago when buying tickets to the Nebraska game. They showed up on my inbox the next day.

Priority 1: Butts in seats
Priority 2: $$$$

We will be getting plenty of money from the Big Ten Conference and Fox.

I got that too. They’re going to need someone to go around to people who set up “illegal tailgates” and make them move their stuff. And putting it in front or behind their cars really isn’t a solution because they’ll block traffic or there just won’t v be room.

Sorry, tailgaters, but this is what happens when your team is successful.
Perennial problem at all successful schools ('successful' here meaning having enough rabid fans that fill the lots). I mean, it's in the name itself: tailgating. Originally you were to sit on or close to your open tailgate or trunk. Now you see canopies and tents and enormous BBQs that take up huge amounts of space.

Was at the Penn St game. The missed field goal, then the fumble by McCray set the tone for the entire game. You have to make a 47 yarder at home to beat a good team. And the fumble and subsequent interception or two, along with poor offensive line play, put us in a position where I guess Lunney felt we needed to throw the ball to have a chance....leading to more interceptions. It is unfair to put the team's fortunes on Luke; he clearly has a high ceiling and could be a fantastic player for us for many years, but he's only played 3 games at this level.

For us to get to where we want to be by the end of this season, both lines and linebackers have to start playing a lot better. The D line showed some life last week, but there is still room for improvement. The linebackers have been non-existent; think it's going to be a problem position for the foreseeable future. The offensive line, I thought, was going to be a group we could lean on this year as our QB and receivers matured. Would be nice if they could get it together as a group and give Lunney and the RB's confidence to get the ground game going. I, for one, would like to see more of Feagin and less McCray, as I'm afraid the injuries have made Josh too tentative. Hopefully, this game is a chance for both the line and RB's to take a step in a positive direction.
I was at the PSU game. Good enough balconey seat to see the plays unfold.

ILL open with a terrific drive. 2nd and 2 from around the PSU 30. Bryant runs an out and up the sideline. Williams runs an out underneath on the same side. Altmeyer misses way short of a wide open Bryant inside the 5. I actually wondered who he was throwing to. He either overthrew Williams by a lot or underthrew Bryant by a lot. I looked at the replay and still didn't know. Missed FG.

PSU 3 and out
ILL fumble first play. PSU FG
ILL interception. PSU FG
ILL interception Q1 ends

I'm thinking that was crazy. Kind of impressive in a perverse rationalization way. 6-0 after a Missed FG, FUM, INT, INT in 4 possessions.

PSU TD (13-0)
ILL punt still better than a TO
PSU FG blocked ILL TD (13-7)
Couple of punts and PSU FG (16-7)

I'm now thinking this outrageously crazy. I am very happy with this situation and excited about the 2H.

PSU punt
ILL interception
PSU punt
ILL punt
PSU punt blocked

ILL has the ball with under 6 minutes left in the 3Q down 13-7. After what I have witnessed with ILL Missed GF and 4 TOs, But 2 blocked kicks of PSU. I actually think to myself ILL is going to win this game and PSU will wonder how they did not win? I am pumped!

ILL loses ground and punts
PSU TD I know it's over
ILL interception number 4 just for good measure and to be certain

The game ended on that ILL possession with negative yardage after a blocked punt starting under the 6 minutes followed with a 2 minute PSU TD drive. The entire sequence took 2 minutes of game clock. I couldn't believ it, but it also seemed fitting.

I don't like to single out the cause ro an individual. But, after watching Altmeyer miss a wide open WR for a TD, throw 4 INTs (only one was a good play by the defender, the other 3 left me wondering what he was looking at or for). His play was the game. I still believe in what we have there and think it was an anomaly.
Sorry if everybody has discussed this in other threads. I haven't had time to be on the board most of this week and don't feel like going back.

On a personal note, the game was a fitting endingto a fews days of "alone time" for me. I decided to go camping and fishing at Lake Shelbyville for coppe of days before going to the game Saturday. Two days on the water and not a single fish. The highlight for me was when the band played Louis Prima's "Just a Gigolo" in the 4th quarter. I stood and applauded.

I got married on 10/16/82. Illinois was ranked #15 playing at home against OSU which "upset" the Illini. Many of my friends (including a couple of Illini in the wedding party) kept me updated throughout the proceedings. It was a really tough day for me. But, we're still married.
