The phrase “rob the bank” was coined when Illinois played in an arena named after a bank. This game is going to be played in the Toyota Center. So maybe it should be “hot-wire the win.”

"How many visiting locker room signs do you want?"
ChatGPT: "yes."

Leaving St. John Arena for the Schott ~25 yrs ago was the worst choice OSU basketball ever made.
I wouldn’t say that, at least from a fan’s perspective. Those seats were meant for 1920s butts… not modern America’s more — ahem — *ample* behinds. Great environment… horrible fan experience.

Let's be in the lead with 2 minutes to go in regulation.

By my count, we're 26-1 in games where that happens (MSU the only loss), and 0-7 in games where we're losing or tied with 2 minutes to go.

We've only had four games that have had lead changes in the final 2 minutes of regulation (Nebraska (ug), MSU, and both Wisconsin games), and sadly have lost all of them so far.

I've been listening to a lot of Houston's' Media breakdown of this game and they are labeling it as Illinois having zero chance of winning.

Hope we are focusing some extra practice time in on our press break. Just ran across a clip of the last few minutes of that Duke / Houston game from last year. Epic collapse from Duke up 6 with 35 seconds left because they couldn't break the press.
Brad has said multiple times he relishes in teams trying to press so shouldn’t be a worry. Think he has it covered.

I don’t worry about teams pressing us. We have excellent ball handlers, passers, and height on this team, which makes it difficult to pressure us full court

I personally like “jack the Toyota.”

My early 1980s butt fit in them just fine, and when I visit CBus I usually worm my way in and sit there absorbing the memories. Seats feel fine. But I get what you mean: they're wooden. Replacing the seating is easy, though. Much cheaper than replacing the arena. As far as a home-court advantage, the aluminum roof on that place made it Mackey Junior. I loved watching games there. The Schott is generic and dull.

Think they’ll root for us as they’ll think we are the worse team.

That's generally what I think as well. They'll probably root for the team they think they have a better chance of beating in the Elite 8. And despite personally liking our chances vs Houston, if I'm an Iowa or Nebby fan, I'd like my chances against the Illini far more than my chances against Houston.

A better question is whether those fans actually stay for the second game due to the late tip-off. Obviously, they paid for both games, and some will want to get their money's worth, but I expect a lot more will leave after their game than other Sweet 16 sessions just because of the late tip.

People used to say with a straight face that that was one of the best venues in the conference and that's why players wanted to go to Ohio State.
I always hate to say anything decent about anOSU, but St. John Arena was a really nice facility.
