With Tomi and Andrej, curious to see if they play/how much they play against Illinois State. Staff will be cautious just to make sure everyone is 100% by the start of the season and ready to go.
Think Keaton gets the start? Or they go a different direction?

Even with it being a exhibition game, I think it could do wonders for Wagler's confidence.

Knock on wood, he won't have to start during the season but if that comes up. It's nice to have that feeling in your back pocket that you belong and have been there.

I truly applaud the sickos who are gonna pay $13 to watch a game against ISU that doesn't count and a blowout against Colgate, but I will also not be among them.

I expect Keaton to start against ISU.

Just an absolute steal from the recruiting ranks.
Let's let the kid play first.

I hope he is a stud but no reason to let expectations get out of control. Also, Petrovic isn't cleared yet and Ty is injured. There isn't a ton of proven guard depth on the roster so him starting only means he beat out fellow freshman Brandon Lee and Jake Davis.

Yeah, that sounds right, where KW, BH, and ZI are soon replaced as starters with MP, AS, and TI in official games starting on 11/3, once those 3 are ready to go.
I agree, except doesn’t AS play the 3 and BH plays the 4 so AS wouldn’t replace BH. I think BH will be starting for at least the early part of the season or until Mirk pushes him out. According to various things I have read, BH has bulked up, this is his 2nd year so is more comfortable and confident, he has been working hard on his defense, and BU sent him to Big Ten Media Days in place of Tomi which I think is at least a hint that he will be a starter.

Tomi was originally scheduled to go but he had a tonsillectomy instead. Ben got word that he was going just hours before.

Can’t wait for some Fighting Illini basketball to tip off! 🏀 I haven't logged on here in months, so just wanted to swing by and say hello!

Let's talk about Illinois State for a moment...

I was looking through Illinois State’s current roster and noticed a few key returners from last season who could make things interesting. I’m not aware of any injuries or suspensions for the Redbirds, so I’ll assume everyone is healthy. Outside of Leib, they’ve got a few players who stand out.

Junior forward Chase Walker, at 6-9 and 280 pounds, is back after averaging 15 points and 6 rebounds per game while shooting 58 percent from the field. He led the team in total points last season with 534 and should be a good early test for the Illini’s interior defense and post presence.

Junior guard Johnny Kinziger, 5-11 and 180 pounds, also returns after averaging 15 points per game. He shot 38% from three-point range (78-of-202) and 89% from the free throw line. Kinziger was second on the team in both assists and total points with 510.

Another name to watch is 6-6 junior Ty Pence from St. Joseph-Ogden. He averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds per game and provides some length on the wing.

In terms of key losses from last year's team, Dalton Banks stood out. Averaged 10 ppg, and finished with 144 assists which topped the team.

I don’t know much yet about the incoming freshmen, but you can find the full roster breakdown on the Redbirds’ men’s basketball site.
