I'm watching the Illini-loosiers game from 1987 on BTN Illini classics right now....lots of memories ....the Snake, Doug A., Tony W.
loving it
Great game and a fantastic arch-rivalry series from 1980 through 1990! Think I have that particular game on "VHS"!!!!!! The Illini team you're referencing was so darned fun to watch! A really good offensive and defensive club under Lou.

C-L-A-S-S-I-C!!!!

Only bad memories from that broadcast was Vitale's slobbering about Booby K. and watching Jim Burr's officiating.....

I don’t want to go to far off topic on football in a basketball forum, but two good seasons in a row does not a blue blood make. Pete Elliott’s career record at Illinois was a not very blue-bloody 31-34-1.

I literally changed my high school teams half court defensive philosophy from denying to the no middle defense the day after that game.

Im pretty sure that’s the best college defensive team I’ve ever seen.
Agreed! That's why it was such a quality loss for us. Anxious to see who finally beats Baylor this season. Quite naturally, I attribute it to Scott (and, therefore, also Homer) Drew.

I find it intriguing/fascinating seeing various "copy-cat" college schemes being translated successfully into HS programs. Good luck with it!

thanks, we’ve become a lot better defensively in the 6 games since the switch. I think I’m sold. College coaches who have been at practices to recruit our players have also been complimentary.

I legitimately think baylor could slow down Gonzaga. They’re just so good. I’d love to see that game.
