I cringe every time I hear the PA guy yell
I-L-L.

Also cringey is the stupid cash register sound after a made free throw.
Heck, they can't even let the 5 seconds of a dead ball out of bounds happen without that stupid techno drum beat over the PA.

I was absolutely jealous of what I saw at Mackey, Nebraska, and MSU.
😖
Mackey, yes.
PBA is soulless.
This pains me to say: the atmosphere at Breslin Saturday night was pitch perfect for college basketball. Lots of MSU pep band and "GO GREEN / GO WHITE" cheers. And they had corgi races at halftime, which just gilded the lily. Entirely enjoyable.

Yeah they are crazy too and also failing organizations (at winning) except the Bears now. I just don’t think what he’s doing helps with the crowd. Let’s not follow in the footsteps of failing organizations please.

Tim Sinclair must be pretty good at his job if he has multiple sports teams willing to pay for his services.

Yeah this is comical that people are complaining about him. He’s fine.

You think he’s the one who organically decided to start saying I L L? Someone directed him to do it after turnovers and such.

I agree that neither his corniness nor the sad state of our home court (dis)advantage is entirely his fault, but unless he is expecting approximately half of the fans in attendance to spontaneously self-assign the responsibility to pick up the slack for the second (and any subsequent) I L L, it's not much of a chant to just periodically throw out an I L L over the PA system.

My main objection to him and by extension, the entire audiory experience, is that it might as well just be an intern (or an AI) with a soundboard. It's generic dreck, coincidentally, not unlike most professional sporting events...

There's no vibe, no personality, and no energy in our crowds. We used to have all that in spades. Whoever is in charge of the noise, band, PA announcer, timeout gimmicks, etc. at the Assembly Hall is just as much to blame for this as the mediocre remodeling job.

I sense a ARSE Kicking incoming
We have to defensive rebound and finish possessions. Both teams shoot a TON of threes so there will be a lot of long rebounds. We have to get those lose balls.

Out of every annoying thing that happened Tuesday, the 14 offensive rebounds Wisconsin got angered me the most. That CANNOT happen.

We gave up, I believe, 9 offensive rebounds in the first half. That’s the reason Wisconsin was right there at intermission.

This is where Indiana ranks in defensive rebounding:

Yes, I understand Wisconsin was very disappointing as they were #215 in OFF Rebounding, but we were without 2 of our 3 best players and gassed.

Plus, we’ll have a lot more extra motivated to not let that happen again.

Where does Indiana rank in offensive rebound?

I notice you live in Decatur. A little bar in Mt. Zion called Bevo's is a fun place to watch games (weekend). Just passing that along!
Thanks honestly never heard of it i only live a few miles away, however I am not a bar guy these days, but will have to give it a shot

I cannot wait for us to be at full strength again. I want to see us go on a tear.
How I hope that happens. I'm starting to worry that this season will be like 2022 where we go limping into the tournament with several players nowhere near fully healthy.

Are we talking about the same person here? There's Tim Sinclair, who sits at the scorer's table and as many have mentioned is a very professional announcer who also does the Bulls and other teams. He does do the "ILL" after a visitor turnover - I like that personally and people respond ok on it. Other than that, he pretty much just announces players coming in and out of the game.

Then there's the new hype guy they have added this year - he carries a portable mic around and has a lot of energy that is generally not matched by the crowd. He tries really hard to get the crowd going before each half and sometimes at timeouts, but it can be cringy.

These types of emcees I think suck everywhere. Do they really pump the crowd up or just the opposite?

Instead of strip the hall how about a let’s make cheering noises game ?

I am not talking about Tim Sinclair lol I am talking about the random guy running around with a portable microphone trying to amp up the crowd, the guy running around with the Jake Davis wig the other night. I guess I should have specified which guy I was referring to as the PA announcer.
