Couple random thoughts on the recent play.

1. Shocked by how bad the team played in the losing stretch, vs how much better now. Night and day with the buy-in. Just need a little better guarding of the 3pt line.
2. MSU owned the boards, but these guys still found a way.
3. The passing against Sparty was good, and Minney, even better. Not sure the last time I saw such good playmaking by an Illinois team.
4. No reason this team can't get a top-4 seed IMO. Gotta dig back out of a hole, but I could see them doing it. Glad the losses were against decent/Q2 teams.

I'd be shocked if we aren't a top 4 seed in B10 tournament. Purdue and Rutgers will be there IMO. From there, I'd say it's us, Iowa and Ohio State that are going to be there down the stretch.

Hoping not, but I think Mich. will also be in the hunt for the double bye

14 or 15 passes.
We all stated a month or so ago that this team will need to learn to play together as well as the frposh learning the college game. We all knew there would be bumps in the road along the way….but per usual, people overreacted to those bumps.

The general consensus was we would see a different team come Feb March……think we are seeing glimpses of that team now. I still expect some gut wrenching times ahead, but all will be good.

So excited about where we are and more importantly where we are going to be!

Beat the crap out of those Loosiers!

Illinois 74-60
Kinky Nick (79)……what a trip back then……literally.

Agree and I still think our shooting can improve which will unlock another level. When (not if) RJ gets out of his funk, and we get Goode back and up to speed, if both of those guys can shoot it at ~38% clip our offense gets a whole lot more dangerous.

IU right now is a 2man team. Stop TJD and Hood-Schifino.

Hood-Schifino seems to be playing extremely well

Johnson’s absence has led to the further emergence of freshman point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino, who is averaging 19.3 points in the six full games Johnson has missed, to go with 5.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 55 percent from the field overall, including 53.8 percent from behind the 3-point arc.

What is the over-under for Hood-Schinfino agasint the Illini defense?

Completely agree that limiting JHS is the key to the game. He’s a little bigger of a player and Indiana’s starting 5 in general is a little bigger. Any chance that Ty starts over Harris for this game as our defensive stopper/energy guy?

God, the IU boards are funny. What a bitter, has-been group of people. :ROFLMAO: I have literally never talked to a soul who has been to the fake Assembly Hall and to State Farm Center and preferred Bloomington ... weird, outdated arena with no good seats and what "character" it has is mostly forced down our throats by old TV announcers who were in their prime when Indiana was actually good. Additionally, the crapping on Champaign as a city is hilarious ... Bloomington is a tiny, boring town with a small stretch of nice campus running through it. Champaign, for good and bad, is an actual metro area with legitimate dining and bar options, both in Campustown, Downtown and even Urbana.

Me, the only time I visited Bloomington: "Where's the town?"

I also just think it's funny when people talk about objectively NOT crappy towns - Champaign consistently ranks highly on top college town lists - as if they suck. It either means they're blinded by hatred or they're just such boring people that they can't bring a good time with them. :ROFLMAO:

2 questions
1. When is Luke Goode coming back?
2. When is Zac Perrin going to play or is he?

Yes, they can get bitter.

There’s nothing more sad in the Sports World than a team or franchise that had a great level of success and then who slid back into mediocrity (Indiana basketball, Nebraska football, De Paul basketball, etc.). The fans got accustomed to a high level of success and it’s a bitter pill when that success evaporates.

Indiana roundball has not deteriorated to the level that Nebraska football did... but the Indi Memories are strong and we all know the mythology that has been built around Hoosier State basketball.

But when I see anyone pushing that Indiana mythology narrative it’s just a reminder that the same mythology could have been built around State of Illini ball. (Maybe THAT movie will yet be made one day).

There simply is no greater ball traditional than the Prairie State. As They say... “The Original Home of March Madness!”.

This will always be an intense matchup what with the (elite) tradition history of both States and the great Big Ten generation games that have been played over the years.

Indiana and Nebraska share a bit of State inferiority complex. Much of their State identities are built around their State U’s. Nebraska has no major pro teams... and Indiana has not had real great success with the NFL or with the Pacers since the ABA days. And neither State is on top of people's vacation lists.

The best we can do is beat the Hoosiers on the court and respect their ball tradition that they have known. Sort of like professional courtesy.

And one more (important) thing. Never let the current Illini success level slide down ever again.

How dare you. I’ll have you know that Bloomington, Indiana is home to John Cougar Whatever.
He’s used the same 3 chords in every tune since ‘83…at least it sounds like it.
