I know it's a serious disadvantage for me. That's like almost time for breakfast.Does playing super late at night benefit a really good offensive team or a really good defensive team more? Or does it really not give either team an advantage.
Cyclones by 18! Right? You think Marquette at home was a tougher game than what Iowa State will be? I get it was one of the 4 ranked teams they played all year (Purdue twice I know, still the same team), but it was at home. I hope your team underestimates Iowa State as much as some on this board do.
Nah the Cyclones are very legit. Absolutely nobody on this board should even be uttering the word “UConn” yet. Y’all will be a true test. Gonna be a helluva game. You think Marquette at home was a tougher game than what Iowa State will be? Someone can correct me if im wrong, but i believe the latest start time for an Illinois game this year was 8 pm vs mizzou. How can the ncaa think starting a game at 10 pm local time is fair?

No one is underestimating Iowa state. Your fanbase is doing that way more than we are, took a look at the cyclone board and yikesYou think Marquette at home was a tougher game than what Iowa State will be? ISU fan here visiting your board. It's great to see a forum presence for an Iowa State opponent in the tournament and can hopefully have some civil discussion before Thursday.
To this point above, there is next to zero chance Iowa State plays zone. They have players that have shown they can match up man to man against some of the best teams in the country. Their defense is elite and has been the last 3 years (5th in 2022, 8th in 2023, Currently 2nd in 2024) under Coach Otz, zone isn't going to start in the Sweet 16. The thing that has changed in the last 3 years is the offense they went from 171 to 114 to this year at 48.
This Iowa State team will probably be the second or third best team Illinois has played this year.

Good time to remind folks that Illinois might have a random, mid-week 10pm tip-off next year because the Big Ten is very focused on the student-athlete experience
Yes. Marquette at home in early/mid November (before we had a defined rotation and defined roles) was a more difficult game than Iowa State on a neutral court in late March. You think Marquette at home was a tougher game than what Iowa State will be? Do you believe in sports juju? I do. Us fans have some pretty quirky rituals we exercise and major no-no’s we avoid like the plague leading up games. Focusing on the game after next is NOT good juju. Is it neurotic? Absolutely. But alas.We are the fans. People can get 2025 National Champions tattooed on their face. There are no "looking past them" concerns for this group.
Thanks, and I had to go check out an Iowa State forum too. cyclonefanatic.com/forum/threads/illinois-matchup - both sides have some passionate fans
The match up should make for a great game. I do think it all boils down to how well Illinois plays defense. They can lock up, but it is not what we like to do.
But if it turn out to be a fast paced game, I don't think Iowa State can run with Illinois!!
We'll see Thursday
