I’ve seen the vision. Ty Rogers hits a step back 3 for the win

Based on the responses on this thread, their fan base seems as passionate and knowledgeable as we do about our teams but these two posts made me laugh 😂

Lol I don’t think other fans realize how good and efficient he is on the break. He makes fast breaks happen when any normal player would pull up and start a set. Usually turns into And 1 too

#1 offense vs #2 defense.... Big dawg matchup. CBS pundits seem split. It will be about do they have any one that contain Shannon? Can Illinois hit threes? Can Illinois defend well enough? Very tough, winnable game. I expect a ton of effort from both teams, because that will be the key to winning

Iowa St is the hottest team in the country right now. According to T-Rank, since the start of conference tournaments, Iowa St is #1 overall with the #11 offense and #6 defense.

In that same timeframe, we are #13 overall with the #2 offense and #132 defense.

That being said, the defense I saw us play in the first half of that game tonight was a heck of a lot better than 132.

To be the best, you gotta beat the best. I believe in this team. Let‘s get two more next weekend.

EDIT: If you sort T-Rank by today only, we’re the #1 team in the nation.

I'd like to think Northwestern could give them some kind of a game.
If NW had a little more prep time... Collins seems to be pretty good at developing a game plan and getting his guys ready. Witness the difference between the first time we played them, and the second.

Oskee-wow-wow Princeton has her tiger,
Wisconsin her varsity,
And they all have the same old RAH_RAHRAH at each university.
But the yell that always thrills me,
and fills my heart with you, Is the good old OSKEE-WOW-WOW that they yell at Illinois.
Claps begin OSKEE-WOW-WOW Illinois; our eyes are all on you.
OSKEE-WOW-WOW Illinois; wave your orange and blue RAH-RAH
When the team trots out before you, every man stand up and yell.
Back the team to gain a victory, OSKEE-WOW-WOW Illinois! Hey!

The real battle starts. Illinois will most likely not be favored in the rest of the games we play. Want to see the team perform with the big boys now. Top tier game plan, in game adjustments, no passing up open makable shots, keep the pace up, low turn overs, communication on defense and play confident. Iowa State is really good but we match up well with them. Not going to be easy but we can do it. No fear.

This is going to be a tough game. Iowa State is tenacious on defense. Marcus and the guys will have to take care of the ball or they will pick your pocket. Hawkins will need to shut his mouth and play ball. Quincy, Ty, Dain will have to show up again. We will have to come out from the tip and go all out in this one.

The Illini are not getting any respect. It is all UConn, Purdue, Houston and so on. Not much respect for the Illini going forward. Seems the analyst have already put them on the sidelines. We should be playing on CBS instead of the back networks for all America to see us play, getting the top announcers instead of the 2nd rate ones. I guess the Illini will just have to show them we are the FIGHTING ILLIN!

Last night was awesome, and scoring at will is like a drug. But, this game will require us to play defense and rebound on both ends.

We will likely start as a 2 point underdog, but by game time it will be a pick 'em game. We need to step it up again and play 40 minutes.

Iowa State is an elite defense, and you could see it in last nights game, They are not a great offense though.

IMO it will be a close game until about 8 mites to go, then TSJ will put us on his back and the rest of the team will clamp down on D.

Illini win by 8

I think we'll be favored against Northwestern in the East Regional Final.............-5.5.

If Iowa State hits one FG in the first nine minutes against us like they did yesterday, they'll be packing for Ames rather than be a couple of baskets behind.

We've seen other really good defensive teams but ISU might be the best. However they aren't great on offense and Illinois love to push the pace off of missed baskets. Are they good enough defensively to slow down the fireworks?

Illini oozing with confidence and the talent to back it up! We're healthy, with a strong bench, and a great attitude. I look for Hawkins to step it up, it's showtime.

And how will ISU react if they come out cold and go down big like DU did?

Last night was over by the under 8 because they couldn't recover from getting punched in the mouth. I think ISU will recover better, but stunning them could still give us a chance to dictate pace early
