I'm viewing this one as "NOT THAT CRITICAL" --- provided Wisconsin has already wrapped up the title with a victory over NEB.

But with that being said:
As of right now, it seems that the Big 10 will have 4-5 teams seeded #2, #3, #4 and #5 in the NCAA tournament (Wisc, Pur, ILL, Iowa and OSU). The team that wins out probably still has an OK shot at getting the highest/best seeding. Advantage Wisconsin right now, of course.

Neither one of those can guard Kofi so we're going to get open looks on the other end.
We need Grandi or Hawkins to do their thing.
But Kofi doesn't shoot 3's (I think Kris Murray will draw the assignment when Rebraca is out) and we just saw what a swarming D can do to Kofi. Iowa is also playing for a double-bye. Color me a little concerned, but probably just recency-bias after the Penn State game.

He doesn't have to. Murray can't guard Kofi. Iowa doesn't have a swarming D. If every team could do what PSU could and do it effectively they would. Not every game is going to be the same. Iowa will be playing a better team on Sunday then they've played in a while and yes that includes Ohio St.

Ahhhhhh... Great break down.
I know it's better than your 'color me concerned', Kris Murray can guard Kofi :ROFLMAO: breakdown. Kofi doesn't need to shoot 3's we have other multiple guys that can do that. Saying Kofi doesn't shut 3's is just 'have you watched Illinois basketball' ridiculously bad.

Agreed, I'm just saying that you swarm him and we will have open looks. It cuts both ways.

Which Illini team will show up Sunday?
The experienced, great shooting, all out effort group that blew out Rutgers ( 1st game) and played a true elite AZ team to a draw?
Or…
The low energy, out rebounded, brick lobbing bunch that showed up tonight, Rutgers (game 2), and against Cincy?
I truly feel sorry for BU….. it must be exhausting.
That being said, I hope with all my heart, the Seniors can enjoy their night….
BEAT da Sqhawks!!
I'm not worried about which Illinois team will show up. I'm worried about which Iowa team is coming to town. I want the one that fouls a lot and can't buy a basket, please.

Current projections for the BTT considering kenpom win probabilities. So far Indiana has clinched the 9 seed and Northwestern has clinched the 12 seed.

BTT_Seed_Projection_030422.jpg

To summarize:
1: Wisconsin or Illinois
2: ILL, Pur, or Wisc
3: Pur or ILL
4-6: Iowa/OSU/Rut
7-8: MSU/Mich
9: Indiana
10-11: MD/PSU
12: Northwestern
13-14: Minn/Neb

Our Illini are most likely a 2-3 seed, with a small chance at the 1 seed. A win over Iowa cements at worst a 2 seed. Purdue owns tiebreakers over all teams close to them so they are locked in as a 2 or 3 seed. Iowa/OSU/Rutgers for the 4-6 seeds is extremely interesting as Rutgers owns tiebreakers over both OSU and Iowa but they're a game behind in the standings.

As for Matchups, it will be:
1 seed vs Winner of Mich/MSU v Ind
2 seed vs Winner of Mich/MSU v PSU/MD
3 seed vs Winner of Iowa/OSU/Rut v (Winner of PSU/MD v Minn/Neb)
4 seed vs Winner of Iowa/OSU/Rut v (Winner of NW v Minn/Neb)

A win against Iowa and we're the 1 or 2 seed. A loss to Iowa and Iowa gets the 4 seed with us either staying a 2 or dropping to a 3. In the scenario we fall to a 3 seed the likely opponent will be OSU/Rut (Maybe MD?). I think we likely want to avoid that, so in my opinion best to go out and beat Iowa and get the much more favorable 1 or 2 seed draw.

ANYONE going to this game-make it the loudest home game in the last ten years. These seniors deserve it and a win here would be massive with how well Iowa is playing

Hope we don't draw Larry on Sunday. Likely to still be in a bad mood. To paraphrase the the great Pruman you can't make this stuff up, you really, really can't.
So his judgement is bad at all his jobs.

Also, with a firing for racial discrimination on his record, one could argue he’s no longer qualified to be a NCAA referee on that basis alone. I’m kinda interested to see if there are any basketball consequences. As a coach, I’d request he not referee my games for this reason, especially if I didn’t like him as a ref already.

Anybody know what approach Brad and the crew are going to take regarding knowing the outcome of the Wisconsin game? Obviously that game will end about 3+ hours before our game starts.

Are they going to keep themselves blind to that outcome until after we play so we can still “play like it’s for first place” or are they going to know the result going in?

With the group of seniors we have on senior night, you’d hope a let down isn’t possible if they know Wisconsin won. We will probably still need a win to hold off Purdue for second, but Iowa is hot and stranger things have happened in college basketball than a hot team beating a really good team at home.

Badger/Cornhusker game will be irrelevant IMO because our game vs Iowa is Senior Night and our entire team and coaching staff (and of course our die hard loyal Fighting Illini fans at the game ) will all be dialed in and hyped to get Frazier & Williams one last win at home in Champaign for Senior Night.

Plus Curbelo is back rocking his awesome fro. That makes me even more confident we'll beat those little piss colored tweetie birds.(y)

GO ILLINI!:illinois::chief::ah:

Some torvik numbers...

-Iowa is playing like the number 3 team in the country since Feb 1st. The offense has been even more explosive and the defense has been solid.

-Our defense has been struggling. Since Feb 1st our offense is ranked 15 and our defense is 70th.

To be clear, he got fired for "discriminating" against white people by trying to promote people of color when he was hired to create systemic change.

PSU has one of the best D’s in the conference. Iowa cant even spell D. They will not be able to get us off the 3 point line and they cannot guard Kofi, even with 3 players. Also, we will be able to drive the ball better As they are not good at shutting off the lane. L I hope that Trent is not too fired up as this is his last home game. RJ should be back and Hawk is playing much better on ball D. I do not think this will be easy as every game is a grind, but we should win and lock up the 2 seed.
