By the way our opponent 3pt shooting has been filthy good over the past month, so maybe just maybe we should shred the defensive gameplan that allows us to play off of opponents so far that our guys can't recover to challenge the shot giving up wide open threes:

Wisconsin: 41.7%
MSU: 41.7%
UCLA: 52.2%
Minn: 40.0%
Rut: 37.5%
OSU: 47.8%
Overall: 45.4%

So yeah, it's as bad as you think. Worst in the nation bad.

The ball handler, in my opinion, has to make a quicker decision to pass the ball. The other 4 players must make themselves available to catch the ball. As was stated elsewhere the picker should be open. Some teams just slip the pick when the blitz comes.

We better put pressure on the 3 point line tomorrow night. Iowa's only chance to win is knocking down shots from distance. Statistics are a frightening thing.

THIS is what people don't seem to understand. When you can't get stops or rebound, you're taking away easy buckets and breakouts for yourself and handing buckets over to the opponent. That's been the defense.

Letting up 110 had absolutely nothing to do with our shooting. We could have been 13-26 from three and lost.

This happened in the second half versus MSU AND Wisconsin. Up 16 versus MSU was a beautiful display of getting a board and executing a break and a bucket.

Haven't seen it since

Part of the problem is we are taking away the lane in a drop coverage and giving open shots for three

UCLA it was their big who killed us from the outside and every game when a shooter gets hot against us there is nothing we do that makes it uncomfortable for them shooting

Offense wins games but defense is what gets you through your off nights. Unfortunately our defense forces our offense to have to score a lot of points to have a chance

If we dont cover the guys on the 3 line like a coat of paint they'll hit 25 of em for the game. They can really let it fly.

This has been a major problem for Ben, several turnovers are on him having no idea where he's supposed to be to catch the ball.

If I'm Humrichous, I go to coach, tell him to bench me in favor of Riley, and swallow my pride. Do the right and honorable thing. You're not a Big 10 starter so cede for a starting caliber player and do the right thing for your team. Force the coach's hand

As bad as it is to see our offense continues chucking threes, the defense has been laughably horrendous. Sick and tired of watching the opposing teams' offense show no sign of urgency or trouble playing against our defense because we can't guard a rock out there. Got to win.

Prior to his being cut from the church team, he might have done so. But now he's got nowhere else to play.

And in case anyone wants to chalk that up to luck, let's see how it compares to those teams' averages for the year...

Duke: 38.3% overall ... 52.2% vs. Illini ... 36% improvement
Wisconsin: 36.3% overall ... 41.7% vs. Illini ... 15% improvement
Michigan State: 29.6% overall ... 41.7% vs. Illini ... 41% improvement
UCLA: 35.5% overall ... 52.2% vs. Illini ... 47% improvement
Minnesota: 32.3% overall ... 40.0% vs. Illini ... 24% improvement
Rutgers: 33.7% overall ... 37.5% vs. Illini ... 11% improvement
Ohio State: 36.9% overall ... 47.8% vs. Illini ... 30% improvement

So yeah, during the whole stretch, our opponents are shooting about 29-30% better than they usually do just by virtue of going up against our defense.
