Much of it shows as premium for me, but I particularly like the thread entitled:

Why are we playing Illinois in a city 1.5 hours from their alumni's biggest population center?

With one of the first commenters saying:

"...and 30 minutes from the illinois border.

We're 3 seed lines ahead of them. This seems like it should be against NCAAT regulations."

Beginning of the excuses they'll have when we win. LOL!

41 but I'm confident it will still stick in his craw a decade from now ;) 🏀 :illinois:

Sorry to yank your chain. Couldn't resist 'cause I do that, too, sometimes.
I was told there would be no math. My bad, thanks for correcting. Also, I missed that he passed, I was out of the country at that time.

Just making sure it doesn’t go unread:

Sections 107 and 210 for the Illini fans.

Good news is you won’t be alone though anywhere if it’s anything like last night. But, don’t take that for granted. 2 other very passionate fan bases will be there. I can assure you Iowa St. does not think too highly of the Illini as well.

I’ll be in 119 with 3 others. Again, hope to see a bunch of you tomorrow.

Go Illini
Also in 119. I hope that our fans didn't limit themselves to Friday's session only. Iowa State and especially Kentucky, have HUGE fan followings. It's going to be interesting the split. There are a TON of Kentucky fans in my hotel. Hoping that they didn't purchase a ton of session 3 tickets because it was on a weekend and assumed that they were going to smash Troy. We'll see soon!

Taking the O & B glasses off extremely momentarily, the NCAA did us a solid for putting us in Milwaukee. Not sure what we did to deserve it and what Wisconsin did to also be a #3 seed and get shipped out?

We got a protected seed, even though we're a 6. Not sure why, but I'll be there in my O & B, loud and proud.

I can't believe it's been almost 5 years since we lost OA and Chin to Kentucky and were melting down over the possibilities that Kofi and Curbelo were going to follow. Multiple reasons to hate Kentucky, but that ordeal alone would make this win extra sweet for BU.

In terms of series history, do any of the older folks on here know why Illinois and Kentucky don't play each other more often? Outside of the fact that they just haven't had the opportunity to play each other in the tournament, I would think the fact that the two states border each other (I know Lexington is on the East side of Kentucky) they would try to play more often, but after a few series in the 60's and 80's I can't recall any effort to resume the series.

Agree 100%. His parents were in section 118 and there were some clowns that were across the aisle, who could hardly fit in their FA's in their seats, just being nasty after the missed shots. It was totally cringe worthy. No parents should hear those types of comments about their kid when he's busting his butt each and every day.

In 1984 one of the best and one of my favorite ever Illini MBB team (though with many close seconds) played Kentucky in the elite 8 game. Our team was loaded - Winters, Douglas, Altenberger, Montgomery, (and a young Ken Norman?). Game was at Kentucky! Our guys ended up losing by 3. The game ended on a missed tie up / Kentucky traveling call. The announcers saw it but the refs were afraid to make the call. That elite 8 game was played on Kentucky’s home court! Another interesting aspect was that it was Illinois’ second shot at the cats that season - the first one was Christmas Eve in Champaign when 3 HS refs had to be pulled from their seats in the stands cause weather prevented the ncaa crew from getting there. The Illini lost on a last shot make. Those Illini HS refs were way better than the crew that would look the other way in the spring. Not that I’m bitter…
